As much as we think about death over the course of our lives, when it finally comes, we're all at least a little nervous. I'm no different, in fact, I'm probably one of the more extreme cases.
You might say I'm overly cautious, and I wouldn't argue there, it's actually a point of pride for me, self-preservation or whatever.
Buuut here I am, 67 years old, breathing my final breaths in a hospital bed after having a random allergic reaction to some new medication. "Shit. I can't move anything, I can't see, is this it?" BUM BUMPBUMPBUMPBUMP——bump——Bump——bum——
*flatline*
WHOOOOSH
"I'm flying so fast... what the fuck? What is this?" He tries his best to look at things around him, but he's flying faster than anything he's ever imagined before. It's like he's riding on the nose of a beam of light, flat on his back, and from the glimpses of what he did see around him, he was flying through space. Past planets, stars, through clouds of pastel hued dust that exploded into shimmering vortexes in his wake. It wasn't like he could really appreciate the incredible sights around him though, he was not very comfortable, and very apprehensive about the whole situation.
THUD
He landed flat on his feet with enough force to make a shallow crater in the ground 4 meters around him. But he didn't fall over or anything, which felt kind of weird. He was expecting to sort of crunch or splatter when he noticed he was rushing straight towards a massive planet.
A loud, bright, trumpet-like voice sounded above him "Hello! So nice to have you! What is your name dear?" said an eleven foot tall woman. Her skin was completely black, with neon orange freckles splayed across her face, shoulders, arms, and the tops of her incredibly large breasts. Her hair was a deep, rich, red, and while it resembled human hair at the roots, it seemed to whisp and fade towards the ends; it looked like smoke, and flowing water at the same time. Her legs were powerful, ending in a pair of elegant bare feet that didn't quite touch the ground. She was wearing what appeared to be an overly long teddy style nightgown, but the whole thing was made of a bright aquamarine fire, small silver sparkles randomly went off all across it. She looked like a goddess, and he was dumbfounded.
"What on earth is this??? Who are You??? Where the hell am I?!"
"Certainly not on *Earth* dear, wouldn't you say? Hahaha haha! And not what you'd call Hell either." She winked in a 'Gotcha!' sort of way. It looks forced and silly.
"Aren't I just so funny? I know many of your species joking ways, on the whole you're all quite good at them, I must say. Delightful. But dear, your life on earth is over, bigger and better things as they say"
"Oh. That's right I was dying, but then some crazy light pushed me so fast.. through.. space? Did I fly through space to get here?"
"Well, basically yes dear, though since you left that old body and moved into your true body you don't exist on quite the same plane. You ought to have a look at yourself by the way, I expect you'll be quite surprised, most of you are. But first, name, dear?"
"My name? Oh, Puck. What do I call you? And where are we exactly? And what do you mean look at myself? I'm just an old.." his jaw went slack as he looked down at his hands, which were covered in what appeared to be plate armor... made of shiny grey bones? He looked down to find the rest of his body covered in the same armor. "What the hell is this shit?"
"Darling relax!" The goddess lady sung. "This is who you truly are, the fruit of your work in your past life. I think you look quite nice, Puck, though a touch muted"
Pucks thoughts were a blur, he could barely believe any of this, but he felt.. kind of excited? He had died, but there was more.
"What happens now?"
