The cart shakes while it drives over the stone brick road. One of the wheels slightly cracks as it bumps against a loose brick. Everyone's heads are tiredly dangling off their shoulders. They have giant bags under their eyes and one has tears running down her cheeks. Is it really this bad to be traveling across here? I am a-okay here, excluding my bottoms.
From what people said yesterday, the stone-roads only span about half a day of travel from the city. So it can't be too long before we start seeing the walls of the capital. Considering how all of this looks, it should probably look like a typical 15th-century capital, right? There should probably be work fit for a medieval fantasy society here, so maybe I'll be able to use my crafting-skills to make some money here. I'm not really too confident in my combat-skills. I can probably fend off a rookie bandit or two, but nothing more than that. At least if nothing says otherwise. The woman's voice from the old world said something about granting me "talents" that others didn't have. Did she mean from my class? Or did she mean the whole world here? Maybe some of those help me properly fight with a sword instead of just flailing it around like a maniac.
"Hey everyone, is it hard to get a job within crafting? Like smithing or something?"
"Hmmm, depends. Smithing may be a bit hard, since there are things a person can't see if they aren't professional, so you may have a hard time selling. But things like carpentry may actually work." A lady happily responds. Her eyes lit up as she started talking, was she this bored? It must have been excruciatingly boring considering her gloomy eyes and her forward posture earlier.
"I see, so I should just make a furniture-set or something then. Any knowledge of the materials on the market?"
"Not too much, but wood shouldn't be too expensive, considering the forests around."
"Nice, so maybe I'll be able to make some profit with some carpentry work later on then!"
"Yeah if it's high quality enough. Maybe even we will buy from you." She ends it with a wink.
"Hey, comrades! The walls coming into vision!" The merchant captain says.
I turn around to see large black walls with large towers. The roof is blueish, almost like bubblegum. "What the hell are those walls? Aren't there supposed to be grey!" I shout surprised. "Well, most walls are made of stone close by, which is often just normal grey stone. This king however flipped the treasury on its head for the capital's looks. The walls are so strong that the capital here got known as the immortal fortress!" One of the guys answers. I look at him and nod with a slight smile on my face. The immortal fortress huh? Sounds like it's been through thick and thin then. I am getting a little concerned though. If the walls look this good, then how are the taxes? Can I even survive this? I don't have anything of worth here, other than my phone probably. Yeah, I can consider high tax to be a level 10 threat for now.
A couple of hours later and we were at the gates. Lines of wagons stood outside wishing to sell their stuff. The soldiers at the gate shined through the crowds. A beautiful bascinet with a plain metal-face. A chestplate with chainmail underneath. Greaves and braces with different decorations. These dudes must be some kind of royal-guard. They can't be fricking recruits with that quality protection! A while later, the merchant captain got to talk to the guards. It went surprisingly smooth, considering that I was here as well. "Well then cap, I guess it's time for me to run off. Hope I'll see you guys again!" I declare, everyone responds "Byeeeee!!".
Ahahaha!!! I'm finally in town! I have dreamt about this for ages! Laying in bed at night, thinking about killing goblins and saving the prisoners there. Doing quests and fooling around with the ladies there! Gaaaah I can't wait! I walk around, trying to find something that looks like a guild. I can talk to people, but I can't read anything here. Shit, do I really have to talk to random strangers? I really hope I can avoid that.
I keep walking around for a while, and I have started to make a mental map of where things are, like the market and the blacksmith and such. "Seems like I'll never find this guild on my own huh? I haven't seen anyone but soldiers with armor either...". The moment I say it, a group of people appears around the corner of the buildings in front of me. Two ladies and three men made for love-disasters. Where are they headed? Guess I'll follow them for a bit.
Left, right, left, turn? Where the hell are they going? They should find their way to a guild of some sort soon, right? I walk towards them, and I follow them through the next left turn. Then I suddenly bump into someone and fall onto my back. When I look up, I see large greaves, a giant chestplate, a greatsword, and a bald head. It's one of the men from that party! Shit!
"Oh my, didn't think a kid would be this interested in a group like us. hahaha!" Says the big man. "Don't be too rough on him now Rogard, he might not be able to handle it." She comments. "Well then boy, why were you following us?" The other lady asks
What should I do!
