It had been three years since the colonization of England and Scarlet had been placed in one of the female concentration camps. If you are thinking about a muddy outdoorsy camp you are absolutely wrong the camp, she was at was completely futuristic with white walls, patrolling robots etc.
As Scarlet awoke, she heard the loud alarm and her roommate, Katherine who she called Katie, calling to her, "Get up! Get up! we're gonna be late for roll call,". "Alright, alright I'm coming," she replied while hopping out of bed and quickly getting dressed.
Now roll call was necessary to clarify all prisoners were there and not saluting as the sergeant walked past you along with being late was punishable by death so no one would want to be late for roll call. As they both stood outside their room hearing the sergeant and the attendance's footsteps coming down the hall, the attendance's voice calling out prisoner numbers could be heard a mile away, "Prisoner 1007! Prisoner 3047!" It was their numbers! They both quickly saluted the sergeant and called out 'here' upon hearing their numbers. During breakfast, no talking was allowed just eating and from there training, on how not to die along with how to kill anyone women and children included.
She was at an assassination camp where they took prisoners eligible to become soldiers and trained them to love the colonists and to kill for them whether out of fear, hatred or love.
The dreadful day was finally over as Scarlet lay there thinking about her family and just hoping she could get out of that hell hole and go back to her family as she was only 14 when they were taken from her but at least she had Katherine.
"Psst psst," whispered Katie "Hey Scar wanna go up to the roof? I have something to tell you,".
"Sure, I could use something to take my mind off of family,".
As they crawled unto the roof, Katie said, "It's beautiful up here isn't it?" Looking hesitant she began to speak saying, "I found a way out, but we have to leave tonight,". Scarlet turned to her with her face bearing resemblance to shock and disbelief saying, "Are you serious! Don't lie to me Katherine!!". "Yes, I am serious and if you would please tune it down, we might get caught and would you like to come with me," replied Katie. Scarlet whispered, "Oh yeah sorry but hell yes of course I want to come with you, but can't we bring anyone else?" "I don't know maybe another time we have to hurry I'll get the Revolution to help,". "The revolution! Oh, whatever you'll explain on the way out," whispered Scarlet loudly. Katherine whispered that they would need to hurry and get to the vents and that she had already packed their stuff and given them to the other members. As they were passing through the vent overhead the office of Sergeant, they noticed that he was there in the office! Sergeant heard the noise from the vents right away and asked who was there, but the girls narrowly escaped by imitating the A/C installers who were doing a dust clean out. As they arrived at the point where all the sewage went the bars were locked! But thankfully Katie brought a screwdriver, they successfully escaped that night, but little did they know of the adventure that awaited them.
