Chapter 7 - Background Information

In the world of 'My Evil Dad,' there are six different clans of higher intelligence. The human clan resides in the empire at the center of the continent and the countries that surround it. The beast clan live amongst the humans in the Empire or reside in villages at the outskirts of the continent. The elven clan resides in a vast forest to the east of the Empire, and the dwarven clan lives in the mountains to the west of the Empire.

The four clans drafted an alliance after the fall of the last dynasty and keep amicable relations to this day, however, the last two clans are not included in this alliance. They are the fairy clan and the angelan clan. They have never made contact with the other clans and reside in the center of the Forbidden Forest, the den of the monsters. Little is known about these races or the Forbidden Forest; the only piece of information that the other clans know, is that the monsters come from the Forbidden Forest but never go back in.

One other important fact to note is that magic is a common occurrence in this world. There are four types of magic: external mana, internal mana, divine power, and a blessing.

The majority of commoners in the human clan have external mana, the ability to control the mana in the atmosphere through a medium, chanting, or magic circles. This type of magic can be used to create magic tools, potions, and scrolls that have different functions, however, the limit of this power varies from person to person. Commoners who use external mana for a living are referred to as the secular mages.

The nobles and a minority of commoners have internal mana. This is defined as the ability to control the mana within them externally through spirit contracts or spells. The limit of their power relies heavily on the amount of mana they possess and can be exhausted. Nobles and commoners who use internal mana for a living are referred to as elemental mages or favored mages because the ability to manipulate their internal mana is from the favor the deities bestowed upon their ancestors.

Divine power is an ability that almost every human with awakened magic has. It is the ability to self-heal and enhance their bodies. This power cannot be used on others and cannot be used if a mage were to deplete their mana.

A blessing is the ability to use divine power externally. The only ones able to use this power are the elven clan, the dwarven clan, the Imperial Family, and the Artino Dukedom. It is an ability that is only accessible to the inheritors of the blood of gods and the type of ability is determined by the god they are descended from. They are the most sacred bloodlines in the continent and are respected as the descendants of the Gods. They are referred to as divine mages.

The elven clan are descendants of the nature god and have the ability to grow rare herbs and communicate with plants.

The dwarven clan are the descendants of the fire goddess and have the ability to forge legendary weapons and magic tools; they cannot be burned by any fire on the continent.

The Imperial Family are the descendants of the light god and have the ability to heal any wound or sickness; they can also cleanse any impurities.

The Artino Dukedom are the descendants of the goddess of time and space and have the ability to foretell the future and communicate with those of the same bloodline through dreams(this rule only applies to siblings). They can also stop time but are unable to interact with people whose time stops(this power is limited to five minutes).

In order to maintain the purity of these bloodlines, the Imperial Family and the Artino Dukedom has an unofficial rule to only marry to nobles and commoners who are either favored mages or whose parents are favored mages. When a divine mage has children with a secular mage or commoners with dormant power, their bloodline is tainted and this shows through the unique traits that the dukedom and Imperial Family possess.

Unique traits

The elven clan would be the green hair/tattoo unique to god

The dwarven clan would be the red tongue/tattoo unique to god

The Imperial bloodline would be the golden eyes/tattoo unique to god

The Artino Dukedom would be the white hair/tattoo unique to god

(The favored mages do have colors unique to the god who favored their family, but it's more subtle.

Example - a girl whose ancestors were favored by the god of water would either have specks of dark blue{or a vivid blue mixed in} in her hair, but if she were related to the god of water, she would have a bold blue like in the myths.)

Keep in mind that every human has magic, but not all humans awaken the ability to use it. In the Empire, Over fifty-five percent of the population never awakens their magic. It's especially common among external mana users. If a human has the potential to be a mage, they will awaken their powers during their childhood.

Note: The beast clan does not have magic. Instead they have super human abilities(enhanced strength and senses) and heal faster than humans, elves, or dwarves.

This is just some background info so you'll know of the topics I refer to later in the story.
