Sybill was spending her leisure time in her quarters grooming herself for a dinner with the captain, she had already put on a dress and had her bot tie her waving hair in an intricate knot, when the call came.
"Lt. Streets to the mess hall" The Nori chirped.
"Why what is it now"
A video feed popped up right in her face showing her a weakly struggleing Rackham that was still being held tight in a triangle choke by a crying Dr. Laetia.
Still barefoot, but in full on evening dress otherwise, Sybill practically flew on wings of red silk to the messhall. When she arrived the still sporadically ongoing battle ceased immediately upon her wordlessly lobbing a suprised looking pirate over the messhall table with a force that would have made a heavy weight wrestler proud.
"The hell is going on here!"
Heads turned quietly and fingers pointed, after wobbling a little, to a corner of the room where The Gentleman was holding a bloodied hanky to his nose.
"Bonnet!"
"Is nothing Lt. all good, just had a bit of a nosebleed I did" His gaze still fixed on the bundle of arms and legs on the ground that were Rackham and Miss Laetia who had, unnoticed by everyone else, stuck two fingers into Rackhams nose and was making a spirited effort to pull it off its face.
True honest and bright admiration for the small woman filled his head.
"Well Lt. you see it was like this ... this chap here - his tilted head shifted to former captain Rhymes- was giving lip to Rackham n all. Insubordination it was, maybe mutiny"
"I see"
Sybill finally took notice of her ships Doctor, Miss Laetia, tormenting Rackham and felt the urgency of the situation defuse itself a little bit. It looked like that woman didn't need rescueing after all. Good for her. But she didn't quite feel the need to stop her doing what she was doing yet.
"You are looking good today Lt. whats the occasion?" The Gentleman tried to shift the topic away. He suspected he had made a grave mistake mentioning mutiny.
Sybill ignored him. She let out a relieved sigh.
"Alrigth kids, time to break it up. I ll be leaving now and have dinner with the Captain and forget about this idiocy. I suggest you all do the same because if you don't I'm sure we will find an airlock for you." Some time passed, feet were shuffling away. "Bonnet you go pick up the poor Doctor and your two friends and make sure you get them into the medbay. The rest of you, medbay aswell if needed, otherwise your own quarters and you better pray the Captain doesn't think more of this incident than I do."
Bonnet nodded, picked the still sobbing Doctor, after dislodging her fingers from Jacks nose, up and kicked the gasping man gently in the crotch to get his attention and told him to grab Dwight and follow him to the medbay. She bit him but he was still, by far, the happiest man on the ship.
In his room Captain Anicetus Blomar was watching the messhall feed in a peculiar mood of disinterest and admiration and blasting away some music he sang along to:
"Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun"
He missed the rain. It had been a year since he last set foot on his home planet. He missed its smell and a tear ran unnoticed by him down his cheek. It had been a stupid idea, vanity really. He hated himself for it. But it was done, there was no turning back now, he was a pirate now, not a pleasure seeking lordling anymore. His head droned on and kept throwing thoughts at him that he had suppressed for too long now.
Sybill knocked, entered the dimly lit cabin and the door swushed shut behind her.
