It had been a year since I had been here and it was almost my "birthday", I was actually quite excited. Even more so when father had actually promised something special.
*BOOM*
I was suddenly alerted by a loud explosion that happened just a couple blocks away. It didn't take long for my door to be opened and father rushed over to where I was.
"We have to go my dear there's no time." He said dragging me to the door.
As soon as we exited the room someone shouted, "stop!"
They were dressed in all black and wore a helmet over their heads. We both stopped moving only for father to slowly move slowly afterwards. He reached into his pocket and once again the man yelled to stop. Before anyone could do anything he pulled out a syringe and uncapped it, jabbing it into my neck. Just like many times before I felt the weight disappear.
*BANG BANG BANG*
Three consecutive shots were fired all into fathers left side.
*plop plop plop*
Blood dripped to the floor as he collapsed to the floor holding his wounds.
"F-father?"
"Bunbun kill."
One simple command was given and I shot forward. I tackled the man into the ground and pinned him. He stuck his gun out to block the fist I sent plummeting to his face. It snapped almost in half scratching his helmet. The glass imploded as I made contact with his face. I clearly felt something break and he cried out in pain.
"Aaagh, STOP! We're here to help you! Why are you doing this!?"
"HELP ME!? You've done nothing but signed yourself up for a one way trip to hell!"
The man was clearly shocked but I paid no attention as I continued my assault. It didn't take long for his head to become nothing but paste and I rushed back to father asking if he was alright.
"I'm fine child, now we must go!" He said
Only a few minutes of running later and we made it to another wall. It opened up to reveal a lab that I was unfamiliar with.
"Come, come." He said hurriedly guiding me to the back of the large room.
Sitting right in front of us was a tube type machine with padding inside.
"This is a prototype stasis pod that I've made. Do not worry about me I have another stashed away. Get in and I'll wake you up when this is over, ok?"
I nod weekly and he walks over to the side of it. A few pushes of buttons and the lid opens. I obediently get in and watch as the lid closes. Slowly I lose consciousness and sight of father.
...
POV change:
'Haha bastards you won't get either my daughter or my greatest creation. Thankfully that informant pulled through. I seriously thought he was scamming me but he did his job.'
I slump to the floor next to my daughter as I lose all feeling in my left arm.
"I'm sorry bunny but I lied, I won't be able to be there when you wake up. I wish we could've at least celebrated your first birthday but it see but it seems my time is almost up.
I wish I could've been around to see you grow."
I rest my right hand on the glass as I finally fade off.
...
{initiating wake up sequence. Good morning code name: bunbun.}
I was greeted with blinding light as the lid to the capsule opened. Suddenly I smelt a familiar smell and I smile in joy. I turn to my right and where father should have been there's no one. Sliding out of the pod onto the floor I felt something weird under my foot and moved away. Once I had a proper view I turned to see what I had stepped on.
I was...shocked, an extremely brittle skeleton sit slumped against the wall and fathers smell leaked from it. And there his coat he refused to take off. I cried and cried and cried for hours even when my tears dried I continued to wail in pain.
...
When I eventually I calmed I shuffled over to the skeleton and reached my hand out. As soon as even a slight touch disturbed them they shattered and became dust.
I flinched at this but continued on. Even after all that I couldn't help but choke back tears that wouldn't come. I took the still intact coat and gave it a shake. Even though the stasis pod kept me intact it didn't do the same for my clothes. My next objective was to find a jar I could put fathers remains in.
It didn't take long to find one big enough though it held eyes preserved in some strange liquid. I dumped the contents into a sink nearby and rinsed the jar of what remained and used a small white towel to dry it.
Next I found a broom and dustpan and brought everything over to the pile of dust. Slowly I swept it all up and had put it in the jar. I screwed the lid back on and bent down. In my hand I held a small chip that was previously in fathers head.
I walked all over looking for the door when eventually a part of the wall moved and I was freed. It only took a minute or two until I reached my room. The door still stood wide open and even though the pink seemed to have faded on many things most of it was still in its place. Shuffling my way over to my bed I bent down to the drawers that were incorporated into the frame. I threw on a t-shirt and some sweat pants that I would have normally worn when I was headed to get experimented on or the like.
Next I put on the oversized coat, I then opened the jar and gently put the chip inside before covering it again. Putting the jar into one of the pockets I moved to the familiar yet unfamiliar scent. Gradually plant life took over and I was walking through tall grass. Light shown in through the large caved in hole that I had already exited. It felt weird to feel the dirt under my feet again and it took time to readjust to the light again but I trudged on.
...
I don't know how long it had bee since I left the lab but I was starving and I needed food. Of course I attempted to catch a few small animals but I was clumsy and was no good at hunting.
*snap*
I was drawn out of my thoughts by the sound of a twig breaking. Though I was certain of it I couldn't find any animal or human around. That was until I found a small hole in the ground. I looked around and found three more. Suddenly a memory came to me about rabbits burrowing and how you can hunt them. All it took was some small fires at every entrance but one to create smoke which would force it out.
Going straight to work I found a bunch of kindling and two sticks. From what I heard you just had rub them together a certain way and it'd make some sparks that you'd put in some kindling and set it at the entrances.[1]
It took me almost an hour to get the hang of it and my hands hurt quite a bit.
Note: Sorry to end this on a bit of a cliffhanger but it'll start right back up in the next chapter.
1: my knowledge on the subject is quite limited and I've only seen it in like one or two episodes of some survival shows and that was a bit ago so bear with me.
