Blain and Emily sat down at the kitchen table. Blain looked curiously at Emily as she started to speak, Blain there is something else I need to tell you. There are many things about me that you just don't know. Starting with the fact that Lucas is not my ex's son. There was someone else in the middle of Dakota and Damian. I've never told anyone else besides my ex about Jeremiah Debrabe. Sheila and Debbie do not even know about this man. I left Shy for him a long time ago and I ended up pregnant with Lucas. He was a terrible man even more vile than Shy could ever think about being. He did terrible things to me so I ran back to Shy. Shy agreed to raise Lucas as his own if we never spoke of Jeremiah again. I was young, stupid, and didn't know anything about men. Although, Jeremiah has been tracking me and Lucas ever since I left. Emily took off her engagement ring with more tears welling up in her eyes. Please, Blain, you are probably in a great deal of danger being with me. Walk away before I tell you anything else and do not look back. Blain stared at Emily completely lost yet so full of love and sorrow. I'm not leaving Emily. Blain said back sternly. Please continue to share with me. I'd like to know everything you haven't said before. Tell me the truth about Jeremiah.
Jeremiah and I didn't exactly have a relationship, more of a contract I guess. I was not considered his girlfriend it was more like his baby girl. Blain looked confused at Emily's words. What are you telling me, Emily, Blain shot back? Our relationship was called a contract Blain. That is exactly what I'm telling you. He wasn't in love with me or maybe he was I don't know. I was only trying to escape the abuse from Dakota and Damian's father. I was young, stupid, and afraid. I signed a contract Blain, the duration was forever. I never meant to... Emily's voice trailed off. I couldn't. I mean. I had to get away Emily stuttered. Jeremiah didn't see things quite that way. He's always wanted Lucas and me back. I find little notes saying "You promised me forever" all over the place Emily said with a crack in her voice. Blain, he is dangerous! Emily wailed out. Please take my warning and leave Emily said in a full-blown sob. Blain continued to stare at Emily, this time tears welled up in his eyes. Emily go on... I'm not leaving and I need the truth about everything.
Blain my truth dates back to my childhood. I have no idea who I am. I know my name and my birthday but I have no memory of existing until I was eleven years old. Still to this day I am searching for answers. I have blocked out everything up until I met Damian and Dakota's father. My mother has passed away, my brother as well, I only have my sisters to rely on for answers which by the way are not forthcoming. I have been searching for answers for about five years now. I've dug up old ghosts but that just seemed to get me in even more trouble. I've had these nightmares as far back as I can remember, I believe they started shortly after I got pregnant with Dakota. I don't know if the demon in my dreams is real or maybe a phantom from my past. At this point there are so many possibilities Blain, I am so scared. If I'm being honest I don't know whether I'm crazy or things are truly happening.
I haven't physically seen shy or Jeremiah in years. Although, I found a note at my door with flowers and a poem just a couple of weeks ago. Emily trotted into the bedroom to retrieve the poem from her nightstand, handing it over to Blain. Blain read the words aloud with a frightened look on his face.
I find you in your nightmares, just as I have before
Three, four you better lock your door
I visit in your dreams, watch you as you sleep
It isn't just your secrets I've always meant to keep
You ask yourself the question, how could this be true
One, two you know I'm coming for you
So you grab your blanket, covering your head
You hope that you'll be safely tucked up in your bed
Now you chant the rhyme, you know how it must end
You thought that this was all a dream, nothing but pretend
Now you know it's real, you get to nine and ten
Knowing that you'll never, ever sleep again
Wow! Blain shook his head in sheer disbelief. Did you call the police Emily, he said softly. No Blain, I haven't told anyone. Even Sheila thinks I'm going crazy, I don't have any idea what to do. I just wanted to make sure I've told you everything and there aren't any more secrets between us. I couldn't bear to lose you, Emily muttered in a heavy tone. Blain took poor sobbing Emily into his arms holding onto her tightly whispering into her ear. "Emily I will hold you forever, promise me forever Emily.
The sound of those words coming out of Blain's mouth sent Emily into a frantic episode, kicking and screaming, and shouting at Blain. Get away from me she shouts! Don't touch me! Why are you here!? Leave! Get out now Emily continues to lash out. Blain opened his mouth to speak although no words would come out. He looked down at Emily's helpless frail body flailing about and couldn't bear to watch any longer. He grabbed his coat and keys storming out with the door slamming behind him. I'm going to find that son of a bitch, Blain murmured.
