"Warm...".
He thought to himself as the sun's rays reached him.
He could feel it, every bit of his essence could feel the rays that seemed to engulf him.
"Hmm... where was it?"
He cracked a broad smile as he tried to remember where he had once felt this bliss before.
"Was it at the settlement?"
"No … that's not it"
He couldn't quit trace it but he felt it.
Wherever it was, it must have been a great day.
The sense of delight as you basked in the warm sun, the fleeting sense of freedom as if to remind him to enjoy every bit of it.
He'd felt this before. So, is that why? Is that why he hesitated so much to open his eyes even though he knew it was time?
What was this feeling?
This unease, this pit in his gut. His body was screaming at him.
"It's time, it's time."
"OPEN YOUR EYES!!"
**Uhmmm**
He slowly opened them, a few millimeters at a time, wringing out every bit of ecstasy he had been feeling before.
**Arghh**
"So bright."
He said as he rubbed his eyes.
The rays had pierced right through, as if they too were waiting in anticipation.
He finally adjusted to the light and turned his gaze to the sky.
**Whooosh**
"Hmm... nice breeze and a warm bright sun"
"I knew this was going to be a good day"
He soaked in the breeze, it felt heavenly as it rushed through his body.
A faint memory lost to time suddenly came to mind.
He was still young then and amusement parks were still legal.
He remembered riding on the roller coaster with his mom.
The breeze brushing against his face as they climbed to the peak.
He remembered seeing the vast array of expressions and emotions on the other passengers' faces as they awaited the plummet; ecstasy, anxiety, and petrification.
Everyone had a different expression right before shit hit the fan.
So, was this it? Was shit about to hit the fan?
"…....."
"Sky..."
"Breeze..."
"…....."
"Sky?"
"Breeze?"
"HOLY SHIT!"
"SKY!!! BREEZE!!!"
He was petrified.
His eyes widened as he finally grasped what exactly was going on.
His breathing quickened
**Badump**
The shock was setting in
His racing heart, the pain in his chest and this awful taste of blood in his mouth.
It was too real, this was real, he was really in it and it was really happening.
"FUUUUCK!!"
"WHY AM I FALLING !!"
He reached out, wanting to grab something, anything. Anything at all would do.
But there was nothing, just emptiness. He kept falling.
In that moment of pure chaos everything else suddenly went numb, as if nothing else mattered a thought suddenly stroke his mind.
"Wait..."
"What am I falling toward?"
The horror on his face intensified, he clenched and grit his teeth.
He didn't want to. He knew it, he knew he wouldn't like it, it was obvious, but still...
Hesitantly, he rolled over and stared at it.
A deep felling of exhaustion befell him. He was losing his will to fight.
He stared at it, the forest.
It extended far beyond what his eyes could see, and the trees.
The gigantic, thick trees. They were so large and tall that they cast a dark shadow halfway through to the ground.
He couldn't see it, he couldn't see the ground.
All there was, was a deep shadow abyss that would soon engulf him.
What lay bellow that was anyone's guess.
"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!"
He yelled, still processing what exactly was going on.
"SCREEEEEECH!!"
A thunderous high-pitched scream boomed.
As if by instinct he quickly turned to face the direction of the scream.
"Ha…"
"Haha..."
"Hahahaha"
"Of course, because when have I ever been so lucky"
He laughed in a frenzy, but his eyes were cold.
Distraught. Almost soulless, an empty husk.
His face was firm, terrified, tears filled his eyes.
But still he laughed. He laughed looking at it.
What else could he do?
It was death, this was death.
He didn't need to have his life flash before his eyes to know.
He was going to die, he couldn't survive. There was no survival.
Cause just how could he, how could anyone survive this.
He looked at it again. What hovered above him.
"An eagle?"
"No... That's not an eagle"
The beast looked back at him, there it was, terrifying.
At least 30 feet long, with four wings.
Giant, sharp talons and a thick black beak.
Every way you looked at it this was an eagle, but then again it wasn't.
Eagles aren't normally that large, let alone have wings big enough to cast a shadow that big.
It's as if an eclipse was happening and everything was turning dark.
**Gulp**
He couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by it.
The giant creature before him was emitting a murderous aura, it was dangerous.
This was dangerous.
"God Damnit Lwanda just what the hell did you get yourself into".
