Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: The Guilds

An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.

- Mahatma Gandhi

Maybe a library would be more informative with that thought? I glanced around for a shop owner or stall owner unoccupied. My eyes caught sight of carpets laid out, wooden figurines and beautiful landscapes splayed across them, and in their midsts sat a wise-looking woman with greying hair and bright almost white-blue eyes. I walked over and squeezed quickly through the crowd that had gathered around the woman's neighbors who sold jewelry and accessories. But I didn't much care for jewelry or anything like that.

"Hello, My lady. " I greeted the woman politely but received a blinding smile as if she was happy that I had greeted her.

"Hello, Caspian." She said making ms freeze. But she merely smiled and continued, " I had been wondering when you would get here. Arian had told me years ago that you would. Please have a seat. Do not worry I would not tell a soul that you still live. The seers may believe you dead, but you and I know differently." I sat down in front of her, curious and cautious. But no one seems to have noticed her or me.

"Why are you not crowded, you are selling the most beautiful works of art I have seen thus far?" I asked her.

"They can not see me. As you are gifted so am I. But we are all gifted differently, I for instance am gifted with only one ability. To attract and to be invisible to whomever I choose I can also turn others invisible like I am doing for you and me now." She says. I blinked and leaned back pondering as I looked around.

"You are reborn?" I ask carefully. She laughed loudly and clearly.

"No, no. Caspian, not all of us are quite like you or Elias. You two were made to switch places for your lives lie in the others. Dying was an inconvenience and incorrection unforeseen by everyone." She says. I frowned at the look of honesty on her face. But sighed and ignored what she had said.

" Why have you been looking for me? Or waiting for me at least." I asked instead. I had a feeling asking why it was an incorrection would probably be a question ignored.

"To give you more information on this world and who and what you are." She answered. I nodded.

"Alright then, tell me please," I say and leaned forward just slightly.

"You are Caspian Moon-Storm. The third son of Lord Wavern, you have been missing for seven years. Your home Kingdom is the Kingdom of Stars. In this world there are monsters and hybrids, you are a hybrid Angel, though be warned there are no others like yourself. You are also a wizard. In this world, there are hundreds of guilds that have formed to help combat the monster problem. The most prominent are the Guild of Mages, The Warrior Guild, The Adventurer Guild, The Trading Guild, and The Hunters guild. I would suggest joining the Adventurer's guild under your previous name and as a mage. No one would easily recognize you, yes I know you have some of the features the younger version of Caspian had, but they are not distinguishable. Your previous name would also prevent you from being discovered. This way you can make money and get a permit to enter the library and get into other cities, boats, etc. Now wizards are rare, they pop up every few centuries but otherwise, a person would be hard-pressed to find one. So I gathered every wizarding book I could find for you." She said as she took ahold of a figure with wings on its back. I sat shocked for a moment before beginning to protest even though I would most likely need as many books as I could put my hands on, on how to use and control my magic. She giggled and shook her head at me.

"In repayment, all I ask is to never hold yourself back and enjoy your life. Make sure you regret absolutely nothing that you do. Saving the lives of others and taking someone else's in return might be painful. But remember this, Caspian:

Sometimes to save another a piece of yourself has to be sacrificed in return. Now simply push your magic into this and you'll have access to a vast library of wizarding books. Not right now though, wait until you had done everything you wanted to do today." She said handing the figure over, it was small yet detailed with a string that had been weaved into a small circle that had been cut through the figure's head. Creating a pendant. I sighed and smiled thankfully at her.

"Thank you."

"Now off you go." She said making a shooing motion with her hands. I watched, slack-jawed as she slowly faded from sight, rising unsteadily to my feet and shaking my head I pulled the necklace over and around my head underneath the hood of my robes. Continuing down to the road that the shop owner had pointed the adventures to. Slipping easily past everyone but making sure my ears were to the ground. In a sense. The houses, or rather shops on either side of the crowded street were old but beautiful, painted white and red, and every single one of them had two or more floors. I glanced briefly at the vendors, some of the goods they were selling made much more sense to me. Weapons were being sold in between everything along with armor and what looked to be whetstones, more in their natural form than what I was used to seeing online alongside medieval-looking ones. I'd probably need a weapon apart from my magic in case someone got too close. After all, a wizard unable to defend himself from up close might as well be called useless. But first. I turned my gaze to the only building within the street that stood four stories higher than the rest. The building was brimstone red, with brown and gold designs carved into it. In front of the building stood a large statue with many 'fantasy' creatures surrounding it, all of them carrying different weapons.
