Chapter 103 - Everlasting love

-May I know what jumped into your mind?- a voice asked stern in its own way of worrying about others.

-You could have had yourself killed... what would have been if I had been widowed? If our son had been left without a father?-.

Kara's voice became stronger and more persistent in the prince's mind, so much so that he had come to no longer bear that argument.

Henry looked out the clean, transparent, even excessively large window of their bedroom.

The crystalline glass, precious and thin, let the thousands ice crystals, that had been created around the strips of it, shine through with an almost blue light.

The snow was falling, light, soft, white, from the sky, covered with a thousand other soft and greyish clouds.

He did not particularly like snow, not too much, because that in particular reminded the man of his own childhood, passed through regrets and tears.

When he was a little boy, as a result of his father's negligence and his hatred towards him, he had begun to learn bad habits.

When he was a teenager, Henry used his angelic beauty, his brazen nobility to play with the hearts of girls, to make someone want him, knowing that that was the only strength to be sought.

Because from that moment, since his father, following the war with France, he had begun to make the boy feel guilty for what had happened to his mother.

The prince and his father often quarrelled, even violently at times, so much so that one day, having in anger thrown a glass at his son's head, the young Henry had to be admitted to the infirmary for several weeks.

Between them it had never worked, never, they were too different to understand each other, like the coat of arms of their house, they were two lions and it was known that two male lions fight, even to death, for their territory.

All that reminded him of snow, Henry didn't love it, he hated it and if there was a stronger and more solid feeling than hatred it was what he felt towards that frozen, soft snow.

-Have you gone deaf now? How come you don't answer Henry?-.

He looked around the room, back to the present.

The prince looked at his wife, Kara, she was beautiful, even when she was petulant, beautiful, like when he first met her, beautiful like the day he had married her.

He still remembered the first time he had meet her, when that stubborn young woman was too bizarre and too little noble to be now her wife.

He remembered the jacket she was wearing, short, of the color of dull brown, her wavy and frizzy hair always fresh and smelling of flowers, the love letter with which they had started their relationship, of the first time they had slept together.

She was special to him, she was more than just Karassandra Richard, no, she was his Kara, she was his beloved wife and she knew it too.

She would be, until the end of their days.

Henry smiled, he knew he couldn't be angry with her for long, he also knew his wife didn't like being angry with him.

He observed her eyes, they were full of tears, of happiness, for having finally seen her only and beloved prince after a whole week of fear and anxiety for his safety.

-Kara, my beloved wife, I understand your anxiety, but please, I beg you, let me make my own choices, let me decide for my life, for my death...I have the right...-.

The pale, thin lips of the woman closed definitively, pressed against each other, in full of her disapproval, of all the feelings she carried in her heart.

She knew her husband had a point in what he said, that he had always had it, his decision, his strength, his confidence convinced her.

-I can't take it, I can't bear the idea that you can leave me...- Henry knew he had exaggerated in his actions, Kara on the other hand knew her husband's past, she had regretted that slap, which in her days had popularised them at court.

But it was her love for him, it was the strong feeling that she felt for that man that made her act in such a way, she knew it.

The prince reached his wife, gently took her chin and moved it slowly towards his eyes.

Their foreheads touched, slightly, which made them both very calm, relaxed.

-Everything will be fine, I promise you...my love- the man swore, gently caressing the tears off the woman's face.

It was so long that they hadn't hugged each other, that they hadn't calmed each other down.

-Henry...I've waited so long for you... I need you in this moment...I want you right now-.
