Chapter 22 - Maleficent Savior

The wind picked up exponentially, throwing everyone and everything across the room in multiple directions. While in the air, Icarus made a metal barrier atop Beo and Nifla, causing them to return to the ground so he could resume treatment.

Icarus and Ulysses were constantly thrown into the walls of the building, causing Ulysses to fall unconscious and leaving Icarus with a lot of damage, his metal armor unable to keep up with the amount of stress put on his body.

Scott stopped his torrent, and both of them fell flat to the floor. Icarus limped toward Ulysses who had gained major cuts from the wind velocity, and Scott boasted as he grew closer to him, laughing at Ulysses's, miserable state.

"Not so cocky now, huh, Ulysses?! I'll finish you off quickly; you're not worth the time of torture."

A gust of wind fell from the ceiling toward Ulysses, howling as it descended, but Icarus was able to block it, expending more of his limited energy by shielding him with his metal body. Even his metal armor couldn't protect his body from the wind cuts, leaving countless marks etched into his pale skin.

Icarus's arm reached out toward Scott, manifesting a spear identical to the one he'd created before. The spear pulled back slowly as if about to be repelled by elastic force, and Icarus's hand gained a strange clear glow.

Scott didn't move, confident in his ability to dodge.

"You already tried that, Icarus. Did he take away your intelligence as well?"

As Scott chuckled at himself, a blast came from Icarus's arm, blowing his arm completely off and launching the spear at tremendous speed. The sound sent a loud shock-wave through the room, rattling the metal barrier protecting Nifla and Beo.

Scott had no time to react, and the spear pierced his shoulder and pulled him to the wall, hanging him like a flag. He coughed blood as he tried to regain his composure, and his wind was forcefully deactivated. Icarus crawled away with Ulysses in his mouth, trying to stop the bleeding from his arm using his metal. The shock woke Ulysses, but he was still unable to move from overwhelming damage to his body.

"Thank you, Icarus…"

He coughed blood as he tried to speak.

"That's enough… worry about yourself, now."

Icarus responded, his voice muddled as he dragged Ulysses toward the exit with his own teeth. To counteract the weight his teeth were under, he reinforced them with metal, able to withstand the weight of his limb body.

"No... You are in more trouble than I am."

Ulysses looked up to Icarus, his vision still hazy from his blood loss, but he felt a faint sense of guilt as he looked toward him, Icarus blank-faced and emotionless.

As they retreated, Icarus stumbled, and his metal barrier was forced to release due to Icarus's stress, revealing Beo who seemed to have already finished Nifla's treatment and was attempting to wake her.

Icarus looked down, toward Ulysses.

"Don't worry. Once Nifla awakes, this fight is over."

Ulysses's eyes looked to Nifla's unconscious form, unable to comprehend what Icarus could mean by that. Her size out of the picture, he couldn't understand how she could defeat someone as strong as Scott, having been disposed of so easily before.

"You're out of your mind, bud! W-What can that little girl do against a Savior?"

Icarus paused as they approached the exit, Scott yelling in pain behind them.

"Trust me."

The two of them crawled out of the room while Beo continued to help Nifla wake up, but Scott's screaming soon ceased, and he ripped the spear clean from his shoulder. He descended toward the two of them, panting as his veins popped, furious.

"Where'd those cowards go?! I need to kill them!"

Blood dripped from his shoulder, and it lie limp, completely destroyed beyond repair. His eyes were bloodshot, his vision completely red as the air became scarce, making it hard to breathe for those in and around the room.

Beo injected something into Nifla's skin and pulled away from her.

"They got hungry and headed out."

Scott struggled to laugh, blood gargling in his throat as he tried.

"You've got jokes, eh? Can you fight, bitch?!"

"Try me."

Scott lowered himself to the floor while Beo stood in preparation of an attack. After he reached the floor, there was a stalemate before Beo finally decided to charge, his eyes activating subsequently.

"Full-Body Takeover?! You might be worthwhile after all!"

Scott threw gusts of wind at Beo, tearing through his skin, but he continued pressing forward, the wounds healing almost instantly. Scott attempted to dodge Beo's hefty swing but fell short, and he instead was yanked to the wall. Beo pounced on him immediately after, latching himself onto his shoulders with his legs and pinning Scott against the wall.

Before Beo could take a bite out of Scott, Scott's cheeks puffed, and he blew wind through his mouth, pushing Beo's face back, but Beo was able to withstand the wind's force and continued pushing, a smile growing on his face. Bo's mouth spread from cheek to cheek, and his three inch long teeth prepared to tear Scott's flesh.

Just as Beo was going to take a bite, wind shot from the wall, and red wings sprouted from Beo's back, catching the wind and pulling him away from Scott.

"Another winged killer, huh? Must be my lucky day. Too bad I'd have to turn you in to Lord Rigkt, because I'd love to do some experimentation on phenomenon like you."

Beo landed across the room from Scott, his eyes still locked onto Scott.

"Don't be so confident in yourself. I could kill you right now if I wanted to."

Scott didn't flinch an inch as he pulled himself from the wall, stone-faced.

"Do it."

Beo's smile filled his entire face, and he pointed his finger toward Scott.

"I love fighting chumps like y--"

The air grew hot, and a massive aura came from the front of the room. The pressure startled Beo, causing him to retreat through the door where the others were waiting.

Icarus sat, holding Ulysses.

"Why'd you run out?"

Beo panted for a while, then answered.

"Nifla woke up."
