Chapter 1 - Chapter One

Seventy five years ago an event that came to be known as The Emergence came to pass. The Emergence was a rain of meteors that carried with it an unknown element. After the meteors hit this element spread through the world creating the first instance of a monster dungeon. This dungeon was dismissed and forgotten until the monsters within broke out and caused havoc on the surrounding area. This forced the government to take action and the military was sent in to deal with the break. They quickly realized that they could not affect these monsters with their guns and bombs. It was around this time that people began showing up with the ability to cast magic, others displayed incredible physical prowess and a group of these individuals decided to take things into their own hands and they fought through the monsters with their bare hands and the various magical abilities that they had.

Not long after the clearing of this first dungeon was it found that the metals found within it were the only things that could damage the monsters. With the appearance of the next dungeon the group who dealt with the first dungeon were called on once more to fight through this one.

Eventually, The Adventurers Guild was established and people all around the world signed up to get paid to fight monsters. Over the years society turned into one where the strong rule. The difference between high and low class was much clearer. Now of course not everyone that had power was a ruthless warlord.

Beep beep beep beep!

Bang!

Zorus Krin looked to where he just slapped his alarm clock off of his nearby dresser. He was not a morning person, that being said he didn't have somewhere to be. He rolled out of bed hitting the floor with a thud. As he slowly rose and walked to the bathroom, one could quite easily mistake him for one of the undead type monsters.

Zorus showered, dried, and dressed within five minutes. After which he stared in the mirror. Looking back at him was his slightly bulky 6'2" frame topped with a mop of black hair with naturally occurring silver highlights, that he quickly tied back into a pony tail. His eyes were a deep vibrant purple. His face was clear of acne which was unusual for the age of 17. He had a handsome, and slightly chubby, face.

Bzzt bzzt!

A text on his phone forced him to look away. Walking out of the bathroom ZorusΒ  opened his phone.

'Hey man. Just wanted to know if you were gonna make it today?' The text was a message from his team lead.

'Yeah I'm just about to head out. Meet you in fifteen ok.' Zorus sent his text and closed his phone with out waiting for a response.

He walked downstairs and saw his mom and little sister. "Hey mom, hey Bella. How are you guys doing?"

"I'm ok dear just finishing breakfast. Will you be able to eat with us?" His mom asked.

"Yeah will you?! Please Sora please!" His seven year old sister asked, her eyes filled with hope.

"I'm sorry. I can't. I've got work." Zorus said placing a hand on his sisters head. "But" Zorus started with a smile "when I get home I've got something to tell you." He finished out his sentence with a tap on his sisters nose.

Her eyes shining with happiness now she asked "What is it?! Tell me tell me tell me." She lunged at Zorus with each word hoping to catch him.

Zorus quickly danced out the door with a chuckle, saying "I'll tell you when I come home." He shut the door and walked to his beat up old ford ranger. Getting in and turning the key the ignition fired up after a few tries the truck started. "Oh thank god." About half the time Zorus couldn't get the truck to start so he'd have to walk.

Five minutes later Zorus was standing outside of the typical meet up for the team he was on. A few minutes later the other people pulled up one by one. The first to arrive is the teams healer Kelly Baker.

"Hey Zorus! Glad to see your back. Your substitute was a real buzzkill." Kelly said as she walked over and gave him a hug.

"Thanks Kelly. That fight was one helluva fight." He said.

He saw his friends arrive one by one. Each greeted him and exclaimed how happy they were that he was back. He didn't really understand why. After all he was just a porter. If they really tried they could find a new person that was better than him with relative ease.

The last to arrive was the team leader Brett Eldridge. With a firm hand shake the thirty something year old man expressed his joys at his teammate being back. Zorus stepped back and surveyed the group. There were six fighters, two of which were tanks. There were two ranged fighters and three mages. They were Team Titanium. The only thing special about Zorus was that he was slightly faster and stronger than normal people but not enough for him to become more than a porter.

As Brett droned on about the dungeon they were going to raid Zorus saw something in the the sky. His attention was quickly pulled away from it as the group loaded into Bretts minibus.

With in an hour the team made it to the dungeon gate. People were queued up to enter this dungeon. The gates opened every five minutes letting people in. As people waited they cleaned weapons checked armor straps. They did this every time the gates opened. As they waited the group talked, joked and laughed.

"Hey Zorus?" One of the mages, a girl, Samantha, around his age though slightly younger, called out to him.

"Hmm?" He responded.

Samantha grabbed his hand and walked him a little ways away from the group. "Would you like to go see a movie with me or something?" She asked with her eyes closed and a light blush on her face.

"Like right now?" Zorus' straight face left no room to think he was kidding.

With a cute giggle, she seemed to relax an bit. "No after of course." She said.

"Yeah sure. It would be nice to just hang out with a friend." With that he walked back to the group leaving her standing there.

"There is no way. He can't be that oblivious." She muttered to herself following him after a second.

Once they rejoined the group the females of the group swarmed Samantha and we're talking in whispers leaving the men of the team very, very confused. Finally after about an hour and a half of waiting the doors finally open allowing Team Titanium entrance to the dungeon.
