Prompt: A Jason Todd x Cassandra Cain story
She misses that look in his eyes whenever he solved a puzzle. She misses his cocky nature and sarcastic humor. She misses the reassuring feeling that came whenever he was near...
Cassandra won't say this to anyone, even Bruce, but she still misses Jason Todd deeply. Her heart shatters every time she remembers him. Losing her best friend was the deepest pain she had ever felt.
Today marks the five year anniversary of his death. His memory still haunts her and everyone in the manor. The last time he was with the family he was furious. He told Bruce the Joker deserved to die for the things he had done. Bruce threatened to rid him of his identity as Robin if he ever spoke of such things again. Jason's thirst for justice grew so strong that he left the manor in the dead of night and tried to kill the Clown Prince himself. The last time they ever saw Jason was in a video Joker sent to Batman. Cassandra remembers crying as she saw Jason's bloodied and mutilated body. She can still hear his cries for help and feel his pain. When the gun went off and Jason collapsed on the floor, Cassandra felt as if she too had been shot.
"Miss Cain? Master Bruce requests your presence in the cave," Alfred says peeking his head through the bedroom door. Cassandra simply nods and proceeds down the hall to the secret elevator. Once in the cave, she spots Bruce sitting at the computer rifling through murder cases.
"There's a new string of murders," he growls. "The only surviving witness says the assailant wears a red mask and is armed with a various array of weapons, ranging from dual handguns to grenades. His targets are criminals, yet his methods of law enforcement are highly illegal. His last known location was in the Financial District. We need to proceed with caution. By the look of it, he's had years worth of military training."
Cassandra heads over to the bat-suit chamber and dresses. It's going to be a long night...
