Chapter 86 - Fallen

I reached Jordan's penthouse somewhere around 8 in the evening. I was excited to see him after 5 days but there was a heaviness in my heart, too. Maddy was right. If this thing between us is what I think it is then I have to tell him the secret I've been hiding. 

I got out of the car and asked Leonard to go home for the night.

My phone chimed in my hand and the screen lit up. 

It was a text from Jordan. 

*On my way home. Can't wait to see you tonight.* 

My lips split into an involuntary smile and just like that my stomach was a field full of butterflies, flapping their wings, making me feel like a teenager again.

I advanced towards the building door when I saw something— someone familiar in my peripheral vision. 

I looked to the right and saw the one person I hadn't expected to see again. Max.

My eyes widened as I saw him approach me. 

"What are you doing here?!" I shrieked. Was he stalking me now?
