The first thing that came to my mind after hearing Max's words was Jordan. I felt an insurmountable need to see him.
"I'm with Jordan," I said, looking Max straight in the eye. "Just… don't come near me again, Max. Just don't." I walked away from Max but he blocked my way.
"Sky, just hear me out—"
"No. Max. Just, no. This is over. You and I. It's over. This has been long over." My head was spinning. All I knew was that I had to get away from Max. I didn't want to hear his confessions or apologies or anything else. I just... I had to find Jordan.
"I know you're upset—"
"Upset?!" I screamed. "You think I'm upset with you, Max? No, I'm not upset. I'm not anything but furious when it comes to you. All these years I hear nothing from you. No apology. Nothing! And today, when I'm with another man… when I finally think that I can be happy, you think you can just swoop in and upturn everything?"
Max shook his head. "No, you don't—"
