After a few hours of attending to the customers as it rained cats and dogs, it finally ended. There were still dark clouds in the sky and the weather outside had a particular chill about it, but the crowd in the cafe had finally died down.
Only 4 customers were sitting inside the cafe right now while I resumed work on the magazine.
I was sitting on the barstool while my laptop was open on the counter. Maddy was talking to her mom on the phone at a distance and I had effectively zoomed out of her conversation.
However, I did hear the door to the cafe open at that instant and involuntarily, I turned around in my seat and my eyes landed on the person entering.
A scowl came upon my face. "What are you doing here?"
Max walked towards the counter. Towards me. "Hey, Sky."
I jumped off my seat. "What are you doing here? How many times do I have to tell you? I don't want to talk to you, Max."
