I crouched down to Maddy's level and put my arms around her. She rested her head over my shoulder and I felt my shirt getting wet from her tears.
"Oh, Maddy," I breathed onto her shoulder and rubbed my palm on her back in circles.
"I know I screwed up, Sky. I know I should have said yes to him, I know this is all my fault and now I don't know where he is. He won't-he won't answer my calls or texts…" she sobbed, the tears in her throat made her voice sound thick.
"He'll come around, Maddy," I broke the hug and looked at her face. Tears streamed down her cheeks like water down a broken dam.
Maddy shook her head, her lips quivered as she spoke, "I don't know. It was bad, Sky. It was bad… We've never fought like that before. We've never had a fight like that. You should have seen the look in his eyes… he-he won't come back."
