Chapter 8 - Ruined Temple!!

It was a beautiful clear morning when I woke up in the village hall. In yesterday's team, the most useful information I got from Leo was that the first ordeal was going to be a defensive battle.

The first day of the village went pretty orderly. Somaduta the diamond grade civil officer of our territory had formed the management committee. Today they were going to do the registration of all the villagers. Resource management was also going smoothly.

Bhanu the apprentice carpenter had also set up the woodcutter and workshop area outside of the wooden walls with the help of Master builder Udaynath. Udaynath had built a workforce of 230 laborers and had already started several key projects of the village including a warehouse, granary, army training camp, and school. He also had marked the location of other buildings like tailor workshops, various houses, roads, etc. The farm area was also selected outside the east of town in the grassland. The rest of the people working diligently towards the goal set by the management committee.

The village had also welcomed fifteen new refugees as per set by the daily quota of A-rank village. The effect of Super smithy was already visible on the very next day as there was a B-grade apprentice blacksmith. He was directly sent to the Master blacksmith Guher for the work assignment. Apart from him, no one else was worth mentioning.

Considering the problem of the ordeal I called Somdutta and Virbhan the master trainer in my office. Basic general Bhagal Singh was still clearing the surrounding area so he was not available currently. After they came in I told them to sit.

"Our village is going to be attacked after six days. I had called you both to discuss this matter." I dropped the bombshell straight away with my 'opening statement'. Seeing the panicked and anxious expressions on the faces of Somdutta and Virbhan respectively I said, "It is not going to be something that we can't handle so you don't have to feel so worried. It's just I want to prepare thoroughly in case the things went south."

"Somdutta, you have to arrange any free villager including women who can easily wield weapons for auxiliary army training. They are going to be our reserve in case we lose our main force."

"As you wish my Lord," said Somdutta with a grim expression.

"And Virbhan, I am afraid you have to overwork this week for the sake of the village. But don't worry after this I will personally ask Guher to make a customize weapon for you."

"Don't worry my Lord, even without your reward I will do my best for the sake of the village." he immediately replied in his usual gruff voice.

Hearing this I nodded in satisfaction. 'It feels excellent to have loyal subordinates,' I thought inwardly before starting the archery practice routine which Virbhan had written for me yesterday.

Day 5,

Four days had already passed since the foundation of the village. Among the new villagers that had joined in these days, the most notable one was a tailor named Anandi. She was a grade-A Journeyman Tailor with a specialty in embroidery which was literally a money-making art. Apart from her there a B grade basic trainer and two B grade silver ranked civil officers who were easily settled into the system.

Apart from 30 houses, under the supervision of master builder Udaynath, warehouse, granary, army training camp, tailor's workshop, farm, and some market stalls were also completed. Bhanu the carpenter had already started the production of carts.

After the completion of the farm, a large number of animals like chickens, cows, goats, oxen, and sheep were domesticated with the help of a Master scholar Soma Nath and journeyman hunter Raghuveer. A stable was also built with 50 horses who were taken from the light cavalries unit. They were also training various men to manage the farm and it was estimated that within 10 days the output will surpass the consumption hence earning some profit to the territory.

Training of troops was also coming nicely. Virbhan has really dedicated to the training especially of the batches consisting of women. No, you guys do not have to think too deeply. He was simply excited because he had never trained females and it was simply a challenge to him. Virbhan is a good boy.

Territory doctor Amodini Devi had already taken residence near the herb garden where she spends most of her time. She had already started training some apprentices. Master scholar Upendra das had already written the curriculum and recruited some 'teachers' from the public. The moment the school opened he will take charge of it and start teaching.

Along with the super smithy a regular smithy was also set in the commercial district which was managed by novice blacksmiths for casual needs. The super smithy was now only reserved for military purposes. Master blacksmith Guher had already developed a tower shield which was not only better than average shields of the same price range but can even be produced by any novice blacksmith.

[Item - Fortis Tower Shield I (Silver rank)]

[Scale - 120 X 60 cm]

[Feature - +10% lighter, durable, and harder than normal shield in similar price range, can be easily made by any novice blacksmith]

He was immediately ordered to prepare the first batch of 100 shields before the start of the ordeal.

Master tailor Kapilsen was already busy with all the leather the village had collected in the clearing of the surrounding. I had already ordered our B-grade merchant Heeralal to visit Varanasi city to check the demand and supply of the market along with building some connections where ever possible.

It was the end of the day when another journeyman hunter Umakant who was tasked to map the area around the village the requested a meeting.

"Servent greets the Lord," He said while bowing.

"Rise!, say what news you had brought," I ordered him without wasting any time in pleasantries.

"Lord as per your instruction I had already explored the western forest that is within a radius of 10 km from the city. Apart from some interesting wild animals and vegetation, I found nothing interesting. It was in the southern forest where I was scouting today I stumbled upon ruins of an ancient temple. There were also several engravings of a seven-headed flying horse on various stones."
