Chapter 237 - One night in the church

Early in the morning, too early for the cooks to be awake, Oswald unhooked a piece of meat from the ceiling before sitting on one of the preparation counters, uncaring of how clean it was.

"Tell me, how do you feel?" Oswald asked to the plainly awake soldier. The man seemed to ask the same question, but it died in his mouth, instead he complied. "I believe I could've slept better."

The snarl he got in return did not appease any concern, so Candle decided to ask in return. "How are you captain? I hardly believe there's something that can scare you this much, is it normal for you to make nightmares?"

He saw the frustration on Oswald's face, he saw the growing uncertainty and the lack of trust he had toward the one he was blindly following the lead. And so he almost put in perspective his choices.

"I... I remembered how it felt to care about people. But here, right now, I think I'm faking concern to appease my consciousness. Feel free to not attend this midnight snack if you will."
