Laurel's fingers twitched, the boy started to wake up and his body was shrinking.
Oswald ruffled the wolves' fur, he was glad to see them anew, they came out of curiosity when they heard the howls, their instincts told them to protect their territory as well, the presence of their leader let them know they were out of danger.
Even though there wasn't much effort to turn back into human appearance, Laurel was breathing loudly and the many dislocating bones' sound echoed from the inside of his body. He looked agitated and stared left and right to check if there was any damage done because of him. He couldn't recall what had happened past the pain threshold he could endure.
He was expecting a fight between Oswald and the stranger, instead he saw both petting the wolves while waiting for him to approach.
"Are those...?" He asked, nearing them cautiously.
"Yes. The whole pack isn't here, some must've died to the steel wolf traps scattered in the forest." Oswald replied.
