Avriel is known as the country of 'swords'. Ever since the knights and Dukes fought the magical creatures that tried to destroy the country years ago, words spread all over the other countries and that's when Avriel became known as a country that is guarded by unbeatable warriors.
"I heard there's dual between the second and third class."
"Oh my.. I wonder who will be the winner.."
"It's our first day here yet there's already a duel?"
"What do you expect from a school of knights?"
Harmliet, who just left their room, furrowed her brows. The thought of Prince Warver having a fiancée is troubling the lady, 'It may be interesting enough, still, I need to get rid of many things!' she may look unbothered on the outside but she's thinking about it deeply on the inside. But as she glance at the hall opposite of hers, bunch of students were standing at the corridor, looking at something she can't see because of the thick crowd. When she realized what's happening, that made her even furious.
However, without knowing that a wild animal would eat them alive, the students keeps on giggling as they watch the two gorgeous noble man wield their swords. Their swords reflect to the sunlight through the open area where they stand, facing each other.
"That boy who owns the silver sword is famous in the high society," said by the girl who's wearing a silver pin on the left side of her chest, an evidence that she's a member of the student council.
"Oh really? How can you say so?"
"Well he's from the 4 main houses here in Avriel so it's really obvious."
"Do you think he's more worth to get your attention than the student council's president?"
The girl flipped her hair, "Well yeah, the president is a villain so I'd rather watch this two noble men having a duel than be stuck with her."
Because she's too focus on the duel, she didn't bother to face the person she's talking to. In an instant, a cold steel kissed her neck. Blood slowly flow down into her uniform, with shocked and widened eyes, she turned her head. To her horror, the familiar pair of cold golden eyes met hers. Her hands begin to shake, her vision became blurry because of tears. Holding a golden knife against her is none other than Harmliet, the girl she called 'villain' a while ago.
"Villain, huh?" Harmliet let out a loud laugh, enough to make everyone freeze on their spots. "Yes, I am indeed a villain." She pressed the knife even more that made the girl clenched her own fist.
"What's happening?"
The footsteps can be heard in the hall, that's when the second prince entered the scene. Seeing Prince Warver gave the girl a little hope to escape from Harmliet.
"Put the knife down, the prince is here," she smirked.
She expected Harmliet to let her go but to her surprise, the lady pulled her hair and pushed her down. She screamed because of pain.
"Your higness, I'm just punishing my subordinate," Harmliet calmly said. In her perspective, the prince looks so worried about the girl she's holding, it's a great opportunity to show the prince some act that would lead her to success but she wants to show the students how capable she is of taking them down the moment they do something unpleasant, as the new president she think it's more effective if everyone is scared of her so no one would ever dare to stuck their nose in her business. Since, she's been a villain ever since she was born, if she put an act or do something that doesn't fit her, it's suspicious therefore, why can't she just play her role like how she used to?
She smirked when she thought of an idea, 'Let's make an experiment. The cruel person they once knew, surprisingly owns a soft heart..'
"Forgive me for my rudeness, Lady Callighan, but can you please let that lady go?"
Her happy thoughts was interrupted by the voice of a familiar girl. Harmliet can hear the gasps, cheers and respectful words towards the new girl, Aviarre.
'Here she comes, the most annoying girl I've ever met. Creating a grand entrance, aren't we?'
Harmliet's heart is surrounded by thick walls of pride. Just by simply using kindness can't soften her.
"I'm also sorry for my rudeness but why would I?"
Aviarre's lips formed a smirk, "Is violence is the only way you can think of? OUR new president? The Prince is here, how rude of you to show such unacceptable act."
Harmliet's heart can't keep a normal beat, it keeps on racing so wild inside its cage but it's not because she's scared..
'I'm now completely thrilled. I want this.'
"Thank you for stating your opinion kindly but Lady Aviarre.. did you really know the rules of this academy?"
Aviarre flinched, "O-Ofcourse I do."
"Then why are you acting like that?"
"Acting like what, Lady Harmliet?"
Harmliet threw the knife at the corner and harshly pushed the girl on her side.
"If you really know the rules.. why are you acting like what I'm doing is just 'simply hurting my subordinate without reasonable basis'? If you have read the rules, you can clearly see the reason without opening your mouth," she then fixed her uniform.
Aviarre took a step back, "W-What are you saying?!" she then held the Prince's arm, "It is as clear as crystal that you're hurting the innocent lady!"
"Innocent..?" 'I never thought that the second prince's fiancée is this dumb', she thought.
"Yes--"
"Then can you prove that she's innocent despite seeing the situation in here? Students are dueling minutes before their classes," she then pointed the girl, "That girl with her pin showing that she's a member of the council.."
"And so? Is that even enough reason to hurt someone?--"
"It is enough. Being one of the officials here in the academy doesn't just hold a title but also a responsibility. Seeing the situation where two students are dueling, with the fact that someone might get hurt, she should've stop them before anything happens but instead, I caught her happily watching. Is that not enough to punish her?"
Aviarre clenched her fist, 'What's wrong with this girl?!' she thought.
"It's not acceptable!--"
"It is lady Aviarre," Harmliet smirked. "If you really did know the academy's rules then you should have known that on the last rule it states that 'Every officials should follow the rules. Protect the students under them. Hence if something happened connected to the students while they're around, the officials must be punished in the name of the King. The President is the one responsible of punishing them, by the fact that s/he holds the highest rank.' I now remember that you're the one who was the 'supposed-to-be' president but since I raised the standards by perfecting the exams, I won the spot."
"How dare you--"
"I thought you would be the best since the students are so fond of you but just by seeing your reactions regarding the rules, it looks like you didn't bother to read them. I'm happy to hear your concerns and worries about the students but kindness isn't always the answer. This is not an ordinary academy. This is built for warriors and the academy's purpose is to teach the students to act like one. I hope you can now understand where I'm coming from, Lady Aviarre," Harmliet smiled and bowed her head, "Once again, i'd take my leave to report what happened. The students that are involved with this incident.." she looked back at them, "FOLLOW. ME."
The students gulped.
Harmliet smiled at the Prince, 'I'm sorry if I caused too much trouble."
Prince Warver smiled back, "No, I am happy to see that you're doing your job well. I was worried for a moment but when I heard your true intention I realized that I shouldn't worry about it. You're a great leader."
"I thank you, your highness."
As Harmliet walk pass by Aviarre, a teasing smile formed from her lips, "Rules of the academy, huh.." she whispered that made Aviarre froze on the spot.
'First Experiment, success.'
