Alchemic fire was a product of the Alchemy Union, use by most mages including Traitorous, as a cheaper alternative to wood fires, since it did not require any wood to be bought, and could effectively last forever, just a tiny device that fit on the palm of your hand.
"No. I did not know anything. One moment I was telling goodbye to my teacher as he was going to send me to the Phoenix college in the Lang of Mages, and the next moment I woke up here."
"I see."
Daron nodded and continued working on the beef that would be sufficient for 2 people. Soon, he began chopping up some vegetables, before letting butter simmer on the pan and then placing the beef on it.
Loud sizzling sounds engulfed the kitchen, and the sweet scent of sizzling beef in unsalted butter wafted into the air. Soon enough, he flipped over the beef and continued to shop up some vegetables, before adding them all to the pan.
As soon as Sirious told him it was time, he shut the Alchemic fire, but let the meat and vegetables simmer for a little while longer. And just like that, the number 12 item of Gourmet; Pan-seared steak with butter was formed.
Placing two pieces of the meat on two plates each, and then dividing the vegetables in half and splitting them on the two plates, Daron put the finishing touched to the plates. Who knew when, he had turned
Pulling out a fork from under the table, Daron took his plate and handed Doug the other.
"Come on, eat up. It won't be an easy journey, becoming more and more dangerous the further we get from Ferdon. For now, it should be safe, but tomorrow onwards the problems should start appearing. Let's go to the upper deck and wait for more people to wake up."
Doug simply nodded and followed behind Daron with his plate in his thin hands.
After settling down, the two began to eat under the starry night, and clearly the smell of delicious food also spread to the noses of those who were fainted, and one by one, they woke up, to Daron's same speech. Subconsciously, they followed his orders since they did not know what was going on.
That, was, until a particularly troublesome person woke up.
After listening to Daron's speech, this person did not move, and instead stared at the food in Daron's hands. She did not say anything, but simply turned around and left the upper deck.
A minute later, she returned back, veins bulging from her rather slender face.
"What are you doing? Get up! My box is that one. Bring it to my room. Also, come and make my dinner, I am famished."
Both Daron and Doug remained silent, food filled in their mouth, and just continued to chew while observing the newcomer with odd expressions.
After swallowing, Daron cleared his through before speaking,
"May I have the honour of knowing who you are?"
The anger from the lady's face instantly vanished at Daron's courteous reply, as she answered in a calm tone, "Of course. I am Patrice Duke, a beginner apprentice mage!"
Nodding, Daron said calmly, "Let me introduce myself.
"I am Daron Evans, a beginner apprentice mage, and this is Douglas, most people call him Doug, also a beginner apprentice mage."
After saying that, Daron waited for a few seconds to let the girl in front of him understand what he just said, before continuing.
"Since were are of equal standing, I sincerely hope that we can get along during this perilous journey of 2 months."
Daron knew, that this girl was the one that man in the forest was talking about before they left; a troublesome yet talented girl who will bring great troubles to those around her, not just by her personality.
That was the depiction he had made of the 'talent' that the man was talking about, and Patrice filled in that description perfectly. A short brunette who was just 12 years old based on her appearance, with no care for the world around her, arrogant as can be, and all in all, a spoiled brat.
Daron knew that getting on everyone's bad side for no reason would naturally not suit him well, and therefore he tried no not be authoritative to anyone, and acted kind to some of them whose personalities he liked.
The smiling face of the girl turned into one of shock, then to anger, which Daron clearly did not expect. However, quickly, Daron associated this with the spoiled personality of the girl, never expecting to be rejected like this.
