Chapter 21 - Outer Regions

After taking a step in front of the counter, Arthur sighed in relief. The receptionist who saw Arthur in front of her notice Arthur's behavior but did not care about it and just maintained a professional look on her face as she smiles at Arthur.

"Hello sir, how may I help you?" the receptionist of counter 7 with pointed ears said. Arthur looked at the receptionist and saw that it was not human but an elf because of her pointed ears. Elves' appearance stops getting older at the age of 30 so no matter what age they are, they always look 30. The Elves call their territory 'The Forest of Mystery' it was not literally a forest but a large part of the universe occupied by the elves. The elves love to be close to nature and every planet that has life they owned has large trees and huge expanse of forest.

Arthur thought of what his business is so he immediately responded to the receptionist. "Ahmm, Can I register as a new adventurer? I would like to register and immediately proceed to my mission" Arthur directly went straight to the point of what he intended to do.

"Sir, we gladly accept you as an Adventurer of our Hall, all you need to do is to drop a sample of your blood in this crystal and all your personal information will be placed in the Hall's database. After having your personal information, a card will be presented to you with your name and rank in it. Don't worry sir about leaking your information with your card, only you can see the information in it. Please take note that you need to take care of your card as it contains all your achievement and once you lost it, you will be compensated with all your achievements and 10000 credits. Just to remind you sir that the registration fee for being an adventurer is 1000 credits. Thank you" The receptionist told Arthur how to register as a new adventurer and showed him a transparent crystal where he put a sample of his blood.

The crystal brightens for a second then faded away and all his information was placed in the Hall's database. Not an hour has past and the receptionist issued a card to Arthur that shows his name and rank

Name: Arthur Light

Rank: Late stage Red Tier

Achievements: 0

Mission Status: 0/20

"What's with my mission status? I think I didn't apply for any mission yet." Arthur asked as he was confused that a mission progress was shown in his card without applying for a mission.

"Sir, it was only normal for low rank adventurers to have a mission indicated in their card when they just started, they need to have a regular mission placed on them by the Hall until they reach Yellow tier. I hope you understand sir." The receptionist informed Arthur

" Is that so. What is my mission then?" He asked

The receptionist clicked her computer and Arthur immediately heard a beeping sound in his holowatch. So he looked at his watch and saw that there was a message that came from the Hall. He opened the message and read that it was the mission he needed to do.

[Mission Objectives: Adventurer must kill at least 20 Fire Rats at the North of the city in the Outer Regions of the forest. The Mission must be done within 3 days. Failure to accomplish the task will be a fee double the amount of expected reward.

Reward: 100 Credits per kill]

"Thank you" Arthur nodded to the receptionist and paid his registration fee

....

North City Gates

Arthur went past the guards at the Northern city gates and saw the wide expanse of agricultural land. The planet has its own crops that can endure the heat of the planet. These crops are the main source of food for the city, and it was also the source of they comfort in this hot weather as it will give you a cold and comfortable feeling when you eat their crops. These crops were also the ones that the Fire Rats wanted to eat and it really is a headache for the farmers and the City Lord to be attacked by these pests.

Arthur looked at the Northern forest, it was full of trees in different heights but has the same color, and that is red. The Rats in that area are well hidden, so Arthur needed to be observant if he wanted to finish his mission in 3 days.

"According to what information they provided me, the Fire Rats lives in caves. These Fire Rats loves to dump their waste in front of their caves and the scent of their waste will discourage other wild animals to get near them. The Fire Rats are very active at night and they sleep in the morning. I think I should first watch them at night and catch some small groups of rats to see their strength and assess if I can attack their shelter killing them in one fell swoop." Arthur organized his thought as he proceed to the nearby village
