"Get out of my way." The woman said before they both looked up to see that Stolas's portal was still open and saw a man looking at them. They stopped their power struggle when they felt his killer intent and before Damian could react the large man grabbed his face. He dragged his head along the ground before throwing him into the desert. Damian bounced along the ground and quickly recovering by sliding on his feet. Damian's eyes widened when he saw the man's fist coming towards him before the woman kicked the man in his face to force him away from Damian. Without saying a word they both launched towards the man with their swords ready but when they reached him he grabbed their arms and slammed them into the ground. They quickly delivered lightning fast kicks to his chin but he just gave them a wicked smile before he kicked the woman away and threw Damian at her. Damian crashed into the woman and they laid in a heap on the ground.
"Get off me." She told him with a scowl and he stood up with a calm look that disturbed her as the man walked towards them. Damian slid his sword into his scabbard and lowered his stance. Her eyes widened as a vortex of slashes swallowed the man before suddenly exploding and throwing dust in every direction. The man began to laugh as the dust dissipated and it was clear he had taken no damage.
"Pathetic." He said with a maniacal laugh and appeared in front of Damian. Damian punched the man in the chest and his eyes widened as he was picked up by his face. The woman charged the man but was knocked away by the back of his fist. He calmly took Damian's sword and examined it calmly.
"War sends her regards." He said before he shoved the sword through Damian's chest and dropped him on the ground. The power of the sword caused Damian's entire body to scream out in pain but he was unable to make a sound as blood pooled around him. The man began to walk towards the woman with a wicked smile and Damian grabbed his ankle. The man stomped his chest and Damian's vision faded to black.
"How long are you going to just lay there?" A voice asked Damian but he was unable to respond and the voice sighed, "Listen. That man you're fighting goes by Pestilence and of you don't stop him then Hell will suffer."
"I...can't." Damian struggled to say as he slowly opened his eyes and saw that the voice belonged to woman he had never seen before but she felt so familiar, "Who...are...you?"
"I'm you and you're me. Our souls are one and the same, though mine is much older." She explained as she kneeled next to him, "Think of it as reincarnation. We've met once before but you brushed it off as simply being a bad dream. At that time I was only able to take the form of your soul and as time passed I was able to reform mine."
"That doesn't answer my question." Damian said and his eyes widened when he realized he was no longer struggling to speak, "You're not making sense."
"Decades ago War, Famine and Pestilence killed me because I refused to go along with their plan and tried to stop them." She explained with a serious tone, "I can never truly be killed however they did kill my body and at some point my soul connected to yours."
"So we're connected and neither of us know why?" Damian asked as he tried to move but discovered that he couldn't, "Damn."
"Let me take the reins for now." She told him and he shook his head.
"I stay in control." Damian told her sternly and she smiled before putting her hand on his chest.
Pestilence turned around when he felt the wind pick up behind him and saw blue mist leaking from Damian's body. He slowly stood up and clenched his fist as the woman's soul got adjusted to his.
