The mystery of the three dead bodies only clouded over as time went by. Discovered by the vampire that lived with the protector, there were many facts as to why it was highly suspicious but the one that gained most attention was the use of Corruption Magic.
In their world, Magic was an integral part. Almost every race could use magic, with the exception of humans. The humans were a strange race, largely immune to most magic so in a war, a type of artificial magic was developed to be able to kill any race; Corruption Magic.
Made through the vilest and most disgusting method, it requires one to sacrifice everything important and precious, including one's soul to obtain it. It was banned every where for a large number of reasons.
The Arctic Snow Wolves tribe was situated far from civilization. In fact, the nearest trace of civilization was the faraway Vampire Clan, Deniel.
What would a human, an elf and a southern wolf be doing in the territory of the northern wolves? The two tribes couldn't be further from the other!
Which begged the question; what exactly was going on?!
Dimitri was close to ripping his hair out of the mystery. Leaving the provision of food to his subordinates, he slaved over work day and night, reading numerous texts and trying to figure out exactly why the corpses were there in the first place.
Yvaine happened to walk in on him on one occasion, completely passed out over his desk. Dark circles formed under his eyes and his normally smooth straight hair was in tangled. He looked and smelt weird, giving off an air of despondency.
She ignored him and looked through the files on his desk. The files contained cases of travelers lost in the woods but none contained the use of Corruption Magic.
His laptop was also open, a little probing into his mind revealed the password. Just like he was, the contents of the laptop were plain and organized. They were filled with official stuff and searches on the internet about similar cases. There were also important emails.
Since she was bored and Jobless, she decided to help him out.
There were two main types of technology in their world; Human technology which made use of anti-magic and Elven technology which made use of magic. The Elves had a common habit of inscribing spells into their gadgets which made them all high performance and versatile.
This also exposes them to the threat of infiltration from people with high level magic just like human gadgets are at risk of exposure to crackers who have advanced coding knowledge.
Unfortunately for Dimitri, his computer was made with Elven technology so just a little inscription from her on the screen took her straight to the deep web.
As for why she needed his password to unlock, it was because that was the only complex source of security provided. People with high level magic were rare and it's not like they would go around breaking into random computers, right?
It wasn't like the password was completely safe since she could easily read his mind. He would blow his top if he knew though so a sleeping spell sealed the deal.
Instead of clear, readable data, rows and rows of codes appeared on the screen, stunning her momentarily. So much information was coming in that it threatened to shut down the computer.
"The brat would get angry if he finds out, so be a good dear and open up for Aunt Yvaine" she inscribed another spell into the mousepad and the rush of information stopped.
"You know, in my days, I was a genius inscriptor. I could write complex spells faster than one could blink and they were all ancient symbols. Those God's were totally jealous. So, don't think you can stun this vampire with your measly machine language!"
Taking up the challenge and muttering words to herself, her hands flashed on the keyboard, typing spells. It was something strange and unheard of, even in their century.
Using her advanced magic, she had replaced the symbols and letters on the keyboard, making it easy for her to type as inscribe spells. The people who surfed the deep web soon noticed a certain user was racking up a storm.
Tracing the IP address and finding it to be somewhere deep in the north, they soon gave up on it being a real address and cracked down on finding where the 'usurper' originated from.
The wolves in the deep north were very reclusive. How could they have access to technology? It made no sense to them.
The tempo at which she typed her spell soon increased as she passed layers and layers of protection, driving towards the heart of where she intended to go. There were no keyword safety so she had to find out each information remotely by herself.
Her adventure continued way into the morning till she finally found some clues. She erased her traces on the internet and printed the information she compiled.
Taking a glance through it, she whistled.
"Wow, that's completely crazy. To think people would even think of this...it's safe to say this whole thing is fucked up. Hahaha, this is going to be so much fun. I wish you luck, brat"
She left the study, the neatly placed papers she placed the only trace she was ever there.
