Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

I leaned against the cold, stone doors, trying to catch my breath. Dungeons only allow one party (a group of adventurers) at a time. Once the doors are closed, they lock themselves until the entire party completes the dungeon, or dies.

In this dungeon, each floor has 2 rooms. Each room has F class monsters and the boss is FF class. (Note: Anything that involves difficulty uses the book class system). Once you defeat the boss, a door opens up that teleports you right outside of the dungeon, right next to a shop that you can trade items for coins or cons for items.

When killed, monsters (aka mobs) drop a skill book, coins, or weapons/ armor. To use the weapons/ armor that drops, you have to say, 'accept' and they will be added to your inventory, which can be accessed in my personal menu once I acquire one or more items. Or, at least that is what the adults tell me.

The room I stood in, which was the first room on the first floor, had the same marble walls as the outside and the walls were lined with torches, each about 5 feet apart. The room I stood in had about 20 torches on each wall leading to another set of doors. This time, the doors were made of wood. I estimated that between the stone doors and the wood doors were about 100 feet. Plenty of room to try out my new skill.

Remembering the name of my skill, I confidently said aloud, "Light Blade!"

In front of me, a black handle of a sword materialized then started to fall to the floor. I grabbed the handle of the sword before it hit the floor and started studying it. It had a strong rubber grip with hexagonal bumps on all surfaces. In the center of the handle was a round, hard circle that looked like it could slide up.

I slid the button up and at the top of the handle, a dark purplish light formed a long, thin, sharp sword.

I swung it around a few times. It was extremely light and when I swung it fast, there was a trail of light that followed the blade. It was amazing!

When I got used to swinging the blade and finding comfortable fighting stances, I was finally ready to enter the next room.

I pushed the wooden door open with my left hand, which was currently free, and peeked inside the room. There were 5 spider-like mobs, each about the size of a large dog. All of their HP was 50/50, to be expected from a F class monsters.

I opened the door all the way, then closed it behind me. One of the black, harry spiders came crawling at me, it's dark red eyes trained on me.

When it came in range, I swung my sword down, cutting off it's head. As the head dropped, I recoiled from it. Let me say, it was not a pretty sight. A few seconds later, the head of the spider and the rest of the body turned into black smoke and disappeared leaving two, round coins.

2 coins. Wow, I thought, that's practically worthless.

The other 4 spiders came after me one at a time, but I cut through them like they were air. The rest of the spiders dropped 6 coins and one spider dropped a skill book.

The book was red with blue spots. I open the book and it read:

Class: F

Skill: Able to grow your own hair two centimeters more each year.

I read it and thought, Man, this skill is complete trash. I put the book in my bag along with the 8 coins I collected from 4 of the spiders.

On the other side of the room was a door that teleported you to the next floor of the dungeon. I stepped through it and appeared in the room exactly like the starting room. I entered the next room and found another room similar to the last one on the first floor. I killed all of the monsters and continued following the same routine of going to the next floor, entering the room with the mobs, killing all of them, collecting their loot, and moving on to the next floor.

By the time I finished floor 14, the floor before the boss, I had already collected 130 coins and I had not collected any more skill books. I assumed that they were a rare drop and didn't put any more thought into it.

The room before the boss room was half the size of the normal starting room. I took one step and the floor shook as I heard a loud RARRRR!

I could only imagine what the boss would be on the other side.
