Chapter 13 - Bermur

"Business! What type of business are you here to see?"

"We're here to see the Priest!! Tell him it's urgent."

"He's busy in an assembly right now. Come back in five minutes during intermission."

"The king sent us!!!"

"H…he…he did? Bermur sent you?"

"Ha! So that's who's king? My uncle appointed his adoptive numscal son as king. I'm surprised you are not dead. How do you survive?"

" Don't you dare talk about our king like that. Bermur is an excellent rule follower. He has stayed true to the foundation laws and always goes back to them whenever we are of doubt. It is because of him that we've never waivered."

"Hmm.. That's the only thing he was ever good for was following directions and constantly being told what to do and what not to do?"

"Is not following directions a good thing?"

"HE WAS BABIED!!! Let's say that growing up; you were basically forced into only one way of thinking. We'll use traditions in this example. Then let's just say that one day when someone tried to make you think a new way or better worse...on your own; you broke down and wouldn't be able to do anything. Now why would you be so helpless? The reason you were so helpless is because from an early stage you were so roboted into a certain way of doing things that you forgot that you also have a mind to make your own decisions with. You grew up in church your whole entire life until that's all you know. When somebody tells you different; you instinctively say so; and then go back to what you were...taught!!!"

"If Bermur didn't send you then tell me who did.....or get out!!"

"Ha, I don't think so. I see you are young so I'll make this simple for you. Jim sent us."

"Jim is dead!!!"

"Yes, you're correct in that field; thankfully; but with his last dying breath he poured out his blessing over Austin and I to be wed. He thinks it best that the kingdom fall back under royal blood and royal blood alone. Who are we to deny a last man's dying wish? That….that would be OUTRAGEOUS!!! You would be sentenced as an outcast never to return if you did not carry out a loved one's wish. Would you like to be removed from your post?"

"Umm..Umm.. *cough*. No sir. No, I would not want to be removed."

"Good! I would hate to see someone such as yourself to be removed after they worked so hard to get where they are. NOW GET ME THE PRIEST!!!"

"Yes sir. Right away sir."

"Hey!!! Put some pep in that step wouldn't you. We only get older by the minute and not younger."

"Josh, aren't those Gremilns getting cold in your hands?"

"Ohh, almost forgot I still had those. Can you go put these in the microwave please?"

" Aren't these just for us two?"

"No. Tipsy gave me a small wrap to make up for her mistake."

"Mistake!! What happened?"

"I don't exactly know, but I think I saw your mother!!"

"My mother? She's here? Where did you see her?"

"I don't know if it was her exactly but she is the only girl I can think of that would know about you and I wanting to assume the throne. She came in; said hi; and then ran off with my sandwiches as fast as she could. You're stil hungry? You said that was a big wrap."

"Josh, I'm growing everyday. I'm not twenty five yet so I still got some bones that need to come in, but if these aren't for us then who? There will only be three of us?"

"True, there are only three of us but since I said the king sent us then that means this now turns into a royal matter meaning the king now has to get involved to see what's up. He'll be here soon. He only likes even numbers or the only odd number he does like is one ending in three, and is never late. He should be here in four"

"Got it. I'll take those sandwhiches now."

"Sir, I got him. Can you come with me please?"

"Wait, where's Austin?"

"Here I am."

"Where's the sandwiches?"

"They're in the microwave like you told me to put them."

"Austin, I meant to turn them on and then bring them back. Nevermind!! I'll go do it myself."

"It's not your fault, little girl. You did what he said. I can relate."

"No. I pray that you cannot relate. I did exactly what he said word for word. He should've said what he meant and not meant what he said. If you don't clearly tell me specifically what you want me to do then I'll only do partial work/ the part you wanted me to do and nothing more."

"You're on the Spectrum?"

"You say it like a bad thing. You say it like we are….second rate."

"No, please. That's not what I meant at all, I'm sorry. It must be hard for you. We have the best doctors and medicines here to cure your…ailment."

"Ailment!! Is that what you call it? If it's not an ailment then it's a disability and since you want everybody to look and be the same then the only solution you have for us is to either cure us….or toss us aside."

"Girl please. I meant no hurt. I just wanted to get to know you better…that's all. You know, try to look through your eyes and see what you go through on a day to day basis."

"You want to look into my eyes and see the world as I see it? Is that what you really want? Fine!! Just for the record, I am not just another number or statistic. I have a name and my name is..."

"Austin!! Where are you Austin? I came back with the Gremlins. They are smoking and they are ho….oooh. What did you do?"

"Josh, I did nothing. Don't be mad at me."

"Austin, I'm not mad at you. I was asking the priest."

"I didn't do anything, I swear. I only wanted to figure out more about her. You told her to put the sandwiches in the microwave, but you didn't tell her to turn it on and bring them back. She did exactly as you said but nothing more. I know what she suffers with and I want to help. The doctors…huu… here have cures..ouch..ouch. Austin stop."

"What did you say to her?"

"I said nothing. I said nothing!!"

"WHAT, DID YOU SAY TO HER?"

" I called her dissabled; happy."

"Aus, is that true?"

"Well he used the word Ailment but it is very close to the word disabled. It's either disabled, ailment, mentally challenged, setback, or a roadblock."

"Ahh!! Yeah..priest!! People like her don't like it when you use those words to describe them instead of saying it for what it is. They rather you muster up the balls to say the 'sin'..or don't say anything at all. Also, since you don't personally deal with something….don't go around saying I know how you feel."

"Austin, drop him!!"

"Wait! Wait! I do know how it feels. I have a son who is Autistic."

"That makes your worthy of knowing what we feel? The only difference between your son and anybody else is just that you 'see' it and witness it everyday. That doesn't mean you 'go through it' everyday. Let me guess; you told her you had a magical cure for her so that she could be 'normal'; just like you. That's also a no no. Austin, tell him of all you can do with your 'disability'"

"I'd love to give him a crashcourse. You see, Priest; people like me have a wide range of 'problems'. Our communication and retrieval cues lack perfection. It's not that we don't want to be part of a group activity/the norm, because we have a wide range of emotions; it's just that we just don't care. There are far better things you could be spending your time on so we just won't help out your itty bitty small woo is me moment. It takes us ten times more energy whether physically or mentally to just…to just….get where you Normals exercise on a day to day basis. There are far more but yeah; you don't tell us specifically what to do and we just won't do it."

"Sir, the king is at the door."

"Perfect!! Austin, you have my permission to drop him now."

"Wait,waai, wait!! Ouch!!"

"Ooo, that's gonna leave a mark."

"Come on Priest. Stop breaking holy relics and come break the kingdom with us. We still have a seat for you at the table."

" Here, let me…nope. I don't need any help up, thank you but no thank you."

"Oookay. I'll see you around the table then."
