The chirping of the birds, the sound of book pages turning, the sliding of the doors, the wind blowing through the open windows, the idle chit chat, and the gaming sounds on lunch break. It was just a normal day at school. I was talking to Evan, our class rep, about the upcoming school events while we were standing at the back of the classroom.
He gave me the schedule of events and I saw that "it" was coming up. The loss of my dignity, the demon in my dreams, and my biggest fear. It's ...the Fuyumizu High Foundation Festival. You might be wondering why I don't like this particular event.
Fuyumizu High Foundation Festival is a 3-day event, full of food-stalls, energetic performances, and booths. The reason I hate it, is because in this event all students are expected to participate in a competition, sort of like a dance battle. To be precise, it's more of a cheer dance competition. Every year a different genre is chosen for the dance and this year, it's calisthenics. One thing you should know about me is I suck at dancing .... like really f*cking bad. Contestants who're supposed to participate are students from the 1st to 3rd year. I know, it's unfair considering the age gaps. The schedule says that practice starts tomorrow.
I gasp. "Evan, I don't want to go to school tomorrow." I said with a dark face.
Evan looked confused while he was observing my reaction."Why?.....Oh right, you hate dancing."
"On the contrary, it hates me." I replied with a gloomy expression on my face.
"You're exaggerating." He said in an attempt to motivate me.
I sure as hell hope I am.
"Glenn!" They said in a creepy way while laughing and looking at me with their obvious evil intentions.
Ahhhh f*ck, it's Arby, Zest, and Dean. The four of them were making fun of my inability to dance. They'd even make jokes about it as I stood there listinening, thinking that they'd regret this one day.
I really don't want to go to school tomorrow.
"Hey stop picking on Glenn." Miguel
told them while he was having a conversation with Marco.
This is Miguel Elijah, another classmate of mine, he's an aspiring pianist and ranks pretty high in our class. He's even in the band club.
The guy who he was talking with was Marco Marcell. He's a famous guitarist in our grade. He's usually seen playing an acoustic guitar at the back of the school along with some members of the band club like Miguel.
I expressed gratitude towards Miguel by thanking him again and again while crying at him and holding his hand.
Of course, this golden opportunity wouldn't get past our fujoshi trio. They are Patricia Garnet, Helen Flora, and Merriam Balt. They've been friends since elementary school and have been inseparable ever since.
"OH, what do we have here? A scoop?" They said with bloody noses as they took pictures.
*Bell rings*
"Good morning class. Today, we are going be discussing tomorrow's schedule in the dance practices along with the other first years." Our teacher said with a cheer up tone of voice.
A tired expression shows in all of our faces. Our doors open and all the first years started entering our classroom for the meeting. At the blink of an eye, it became crowded and noisy in our classroom.
"Pipe down numbskulls", The math teacher said as she banged the blackboard whilst exuding a demanding aura.
The attention of all the students were caught, as well as the teachers'. It turned quiet as the teachers discussed the practice sessions and schedules with no interference from the students. At this point, I noticed that Winter was nowhere to be found.
Curiosity got the better of me, so as soon as the meeting finished, I instantly messaged her and asked where she was. She instantly replied, she said that she was in Okinawa for a business trip and won't be back for about 20 days or so. She asked me to tell the teachers that she'd be attending practice pretty late in the month.
Fear entered my body while I was walking toward the faculty. I was fearing the math teacher's reaction if she had found out. Will she scream at me? Will she exclude her from the festival? Will she go berserk at me? I thought.
I entered the faculty. While cowering in fear, I attempted to inform all the teachers about her absence in the upcoming sessions, but to my surprise, they already knew. They said that she already informed them.
As soon as I figured out that she had tricked me to strike fear upon me, the fear that I was feeling turned to an expression of defeat and irritation at myself for being so guillable. After that, I gave Winter a piece of my mind on chat.
-Next day-
What the hell happened? Why the hell am I in front on a freaking dance troupe? Glenn asked himself while standing in front of the dance group along with 7 front dancers, who actually had a knack for dancing.
His friends made fun of him as soon as the practice began. He would make obvious and repetitive mistakes all throughout the dance practice and
caused problems for the teachers. Because of this, his partner in the dance, Yarah Alley, was called to help him out.
"I'm sorry for dragging you into this." He said to the girl. Yarah Alley is known to be an excellent dancer, sports player, photographer, exquisite painter, and an honor student. Lots of men have taken interest in her, but all of them have been rejected.
As she was teaching Glenn, the other guys were looking at them with a vicious look on their eyes. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to be with the famous girl. Eyes of jealousy and envy filled the hearts of these men, while the two were having private practice sessions.
After thirty minutes, they were asked to return and Glenn was able to perform decently.
"Thanks so much." He said to her with tears of joy.
"No problem." She replied with a smile.
He was very thankful to this girl and they got along all throughout practice and became friends. It got to a point where they'd chat from home and became really close as the days went by. Glenn was improving in dancing because of this girl's help.
They found out that they had a lot in common and they would be together on practice breaks. Rumors started to spread around that Glenn was two-timing. This rumor caused an uproar among the male students of the school.
The dance also had some intimate dance movements, which led to even more closeness between the two. At this point, they were always seen together and many saw this as a clear sign of two-timing.
Until, after fifteen days, "I have returned." Winter said while standing at the front gate of the school. She excitedly walked around the school to find Glenn. She heard the rumors but she wouldn't believe them, but then, she saw the two acting like a couple in one of the practice sessions.
Anger, sadness, and jealousy took over her and was exuding a powerful aura. She waits until practice was over to confront Glenn. Immediately after practice, she finds Glenn having a flirty conversation with the other girl.
Glenn sees her, "Oh, you're here already, I thought you wouldn't be back for another five days. Welcome back!" Winter ignores him and takes Glenn by the wrist. Glenn hesitates and said that he was talking to Yarah, and that would be disrespectful. Winter still ignores him and Yarah took notice, "We're talking, so please stop."
This obviously irritated Winter. She looked at Glenn in the eyes, as though making him choose between the two of them. Glenn excuses himself from Yarah and decides to talk to Winter.
"So, what's your problem?" I curiously asked her. She didn't answer. I decided to go back to Yarah because this conversation was getting nowhere. As I was about to walk away, she held my sleeve and I saw her eyes with a slightly pained look. That's when I realized, she was ....jealous.
