Footsteps were heard from outside of a big luxurious mansion. Someone was pressing the doorbell impatiently.
"Open the gate! I'm getting soaked in here!"
A servant heard the voice of the supposed to be a stranger in her thoughts. The loud roaring of the sky was making everything unclear in her heeds. As she came nearer to the gate, she realized that the voice belonged to someone he knew.
"Oh my! Mr. Park! Is that you?"
She hurriedly unlocked the gate and let Jimin in.
"Thank you," Jimin said and immediately made his way inside his mansion.
He was greeted by his butler.
"Pleasant evening, Mr. Park."
This butler was already in his mid 40's. Jimin called him 'Mr. Bang'. He was serving the Park Family for the whole 25 years. That was why he was so close to his master. He was like a father that could be leaned on whenever Jimin needed one.
Mr. Bang was waiting outside the shower room. Everyone knew in the mansion how overprotective he was when it comes to Jimin. His young master was already alone for 10 years, and he vowed to Jimin's beloved parents to protect him as long as he could. However, there was one thing that he couldn't intrude with ⏤ his master's romantic affairs. He knew how it felt to be forbidden to love someone. And that was what he didn't want Jimin to experience. He would learn in every relationship he had, that was in Mr. Bang's thoughts. To be free; not to flee.
"How come you went home like this?"
Jimin was putting on his white t-shirt after he took a quick shower.
"Taehyung." He mumbled.
"He doesn't know when to give up, does he?" Mr. Bang said with an annoyed tone.
"Someone knocked him down for me," Jimin said eyeing his butler proudly.
"Who was it?" He looked at his master, still on his straight bearing.
"Unknown." Jimin pouted.
"What 'unknown'?" Mr. Bang furrowed his brows.
"I forgot to ask his name." He sighed.
"What a shame. We should thank him someday. Anyway, are you all right?"
"Yes. And look what I've got!" Jimin chuckled.
Jimin showed the little bunny that he brought on his way home.
"Mr. Park, that bunny is so adorable... Bu—"
"I'm going to take care of him." Jimin held the bunny in his chest.
"I know you love animals but... You can't."
"What? Why not? I like it!"
"Have you forgot what happen to you and Ddosun?"
Jimin remembered everything, how could he forget about it? It was the most tragic event in his life.
"But Mr. Bang, I want this bunny."
"And you know that you can't." The butler sternly said.
"Please. Mr. Bang, I really really really want it." Jimin tried to put a puppy face in front of his strict guardian.
"No."
Jimin faltered after hearing that word.
The butler left Jimin with a broken heart. He didn't want to stay in that room because he knew what would happen later. He remembered how Jimin and Ddosun parted their ways, and it wasn't the ending he expected to happen.
"Dahyun!" Mr. Bang called out the servant.
Not long enough, the servant appeared in front of him.
"Get the bunny from Jimin's room. And... throw it somewhere far away."
The servant bowed an indication of obeying his command.
*******
Jimin was tearing while staring at the bunny on his bed.
"I'm sure a few moments from now, someone will take you away from me." He eyed the bunny, simply talking to it.
"It's the first time I dared to ask him about getting a pet after Ddosun. It seems... nothing has changed." He laid on the bed on his stomach and cupped his face with his tiny hand. The other hand was petting the bunny.
"Deja Vu"
The bunny moved closer to him. The cerulean shade in its eyes had seemed spoken to him. He remembered the guy earlier. How could he forget to ask his name? And it was impossible to think that the guy was the one who left this bunny because he had never seen him brought one. Maybe it was the coincidence of the two to appear in his life on the same night. There was a connection but it sounded absurd.
"I can't let you go," Jimin said with such determination.
He heard a soft knock on his door. A few seconds passed, it was gently opened.
"Good evening, Mr. Park." Dahyun greeted.
Dahyun was three years younger than Jimin, but she had been working for the Parks since childhood. Her family was serving them for three decades, and that work had passed from generation to generation. It was convenient and safe for Parks to hire workers from the same family lineage. Their workers were blessed to have them as their masters, so it was a win-win situation.
"Mr. Bang had instructed me to get the bunny," Dahyun said with a soft voice. She was praying for the nth time while heading her way into Jimin's room.
"Please, don't be stubborn this time." She said in her thoughts.
"Can't you leave it here? Just tell Mr. Bang that you already brought it somewhere." Jimin was now sitting on his bed, his back was leaning on the headboard.
"Here he goes again." She said wordlessly and smiled at her master.
"Mr. Park, please, I'm just doing my job here. I don't want to be in trouble again. You know it isn't you who gets the punishment at the end."
"Please, Dahyun. I can't let go of this bunny." Jimin said with sincerity dripping in his tone.
"You should convince your butler for that. If he says 'yes', I would gladly bring it back to you. Okay?"
Jimin sadly looked at the bunny on his lap and shifted his gaze to Dahyun.
*******
The door opened again and Dahyun was on her way out of the mansion to dispose of the said bunny. She was thinking of a place, where she could leave it safely. She wasn't a hardhearted person anyway. Dahyun loved animals too.
"You'll be away but I'm sure you're going to like that place." She grinned.
