Breanna stood in the middle of the dance floor arguing with her brother Kris. Her brother had one hell of a temper so she was surprised her brother was handling the news so well. Kris yelled, "Damn it Bre, I don't care how it happened just fix the bloody situation and find my fucking sword-like yesterday!" Irritated Breanna snapped "I will find your sword and shove it so far up yours, Breanna! Kris growled in a deep voice that reverberated through the room as he clenched his hands. Effectively cutting Breanna before she finished her sentence, gritting her teeth, and coping her brother's stance with a clenched fist Breanna watched as a strike of lightning flashed past the giant windows overlooking the cliff that towered above the shoreline.
A loud crash of thunder rattled the windows as sheets of rain pounded into them relentlessly. Bre involuntarily took a step back and glared at Kris. This was her sign that he was quickly losing patience with her. Bre decided she didn't care she wasn't going to let him see just how scared of him she really was.
Don't get your knickers all in a twist Kris. Bre snapped. She turned around and started walking towards the door." you don't want to look like you just got out of an hours-long butt session, do you? She asked calmly not even bothering to look at him as she sashayed over to the door with a dramatic swing in her hips. I'll find your bloody sword," She said making quotations with her fingers hoping he didn't notice her heart racing and the unsettling urge she had to run out of the room. Something went flying by her head and smashed into the door in front of her.
Bre secretly cursed at herself for instinctively flinching at the sound of the cup crashing into the door. Given the chunks of glass and red liquid clinging to the door, Bre assumed it was Kris's cup. Bre wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of getting the reaction out of her that he was obviously fishing for. She knew her brother had good enough aim if he wanted to he would have hit her. Mumbling under her breath about all the unsavory things her brother could do to himself with that sword. Bre sauntered across the floor loving the way her skirt swayed around her with each step she took. Her skirt came down to the middle of her thighs. This was impressive because she was just under six feet and wearing a pair of Louboutins, with a six-inch heel.
They were quite cute with real gold and silver spikes all over the platform of them and matched her Versace dress perfectly. It was a runway bandage dress. I mean the name was weird but the straps covered her top like a glove with just enough skin showing to be a tease. The skirt was longer than she liked but poofed out far enough that the men had a poll running to see who was right about what she was wearing underneath it. She smiled at the thought they might be able to tell as she planted one of her heels in the middle of the two doors kicking it open and storming outside.
Making her way over to one of the pillars that looked out over the maintained lawn she leaned against it. Taking a deep breath trying to calm down. She started digging through her purse for her pack of smokes. A slight grin tugged at the edge of her mouth as she imagined Kris's reaction to what she told him.
Bre noted that there was some sort of commotion at the door but it wasn't worth her time since she didn't have to bother checking in. As a VIP she came and went as she pleased. Finally finding her cigarettes and lighter she stared at the line of people getting drenched in the rain. The sight was quite comical. As she tried to light her cigarette Bre contemplated just how screwed she was.
She had no idea how the hell she was gonna find the sword. She didn't even know it was missing or how long it was missing or for that matter what world it went missing in. She needed to figure out where she was even going to start looking because right now it was like looking for a needle in three different haystacks but the needle was a sword and the haystacks were different dimensions. Giving up on lighting her cigarette Bre threw the cigarette down on the sidewalk and smashed it with her heels there was no point in lighting it. It had already been drenched by the rain.
Bre stomped over to the door part in frustration and part in determination. She was going to figure out a way to find that damn sword. Bre stopped dead in her tracks not even caring that the rain was ruining her outfit. Bre debated the chances of her suspicions being correct. She knew the chances were extremely slim but what if. Bre pondered for a moment staring at the cause of the commotion at the door because she was the same woman from earlier. Bre pondered for just a moment before she made up her mind one thing she had learned after being alive for thousands of years coincidences were never by chance and always designed by the fates. She suddenly knew exactly where to start.
Not waiting to give her newfound plan a second thought Bre walked over grabbing the woman by the arm. Emery's protest died on her tongue from sheer shock as the brunette from earlier started dragging her by the arm between the two henchmen guarding the door. She's with me, Bre said to the security guards, daring them to stop her as she dragged Emery into the club before she could protest. It was all Emery could do to keep from tripping over her feet as little miss psycho skirts dragged her through the winding halls of the club. Emery frowned and looked backward, staring at what she was pretty sure was the second wall she had been dragged through.
Freaking out she started to protest more adamantly but little miss psycho skirt didn't pay any attention to her. It appeared to Emery that she had forgotten she was dragging her along. Emery screamed but soon realized no one was in the halls to hear her and the tall brunette in front of her still refused to acknowledge her presence. Emery decided to try a different tactic to break free; she leaned backward bracing her feet on the ground trying to make herself stop moving. But little miss psycho skirts just kept walking propelling her forward almost knocking Emery off her feet onto her face.
Determined to get away from little miss psycho skirts Emery threw herself backward. Emery didn't get very far-seeing as little miss psycho skirts had a hold of her upper arm still. Emery would have dislocated her shoulder except just as she flung herself backward little miss psycho skirts took a step forward. Using the momentum to throw Emery forward and send her flying headfirst straight into a wall. Emery braced for impact but instead stumbled through the wall desperately trying to keep her feet under her.
She failed horribly as she crashed into the floor landing on her but yet again. When Bre emerged on the other side of the wall she found the woman from earlier talking to herself laying dazed on the floor."Just my luck Emery exclaimed. Noticing little miss psycho skirts had joined her Emery snapped What is it with you people and my ass. Breanna looked at her confused, "What about your ass?
Bre frowned wondering if the human had already lost her mind. If she had she wouldn't be of much use to her. Bre looked at the pesky human disappointedly and said Speaking of asses women, you are becoming quite a big pain in mine. So you're going to fix that And you're going to start now," Breanna crossed her arms over her chest and tapped her foot impatiently. Emery stood up brushing herself off feeling quite small and embarrassed for the second time today. As she straightened up and looked at little miss psycho skirts standing there as if Emery owed her something she found herself getting pissed off.
Emery had had enough. She couldn't take anymore she just snapped, "look lady I don't know you, and I sure as hell don't know what you want me to fix. I don't even know where we are anymore. I'm soaking wet and late meeting my friends and to top it all off I think I've permanently damaged my butt from landing on it so many times today. So you can go and"...Breanna threw her head back and started laughing hysterically cutting Emery off mid-sentence. This human's got some spunk that will be a good thing Bre decided.
Damn human that's the first time today you've had a backbone I'm actually kinda impressed. You never know we might just get along yet. Although I admit it's hard to take you seriously with you still going on about your buttocks. No offense honey your seriously not my type and besides, I don't exactly have the right equipment to do anything productive with that ass anyways. It'd be such a shame to waste it on me Bre said while looking at her with an intense gaze. It was the first time she actually really looked at the little human. She was standing there with strands of hair stuck to her face, angry and passionate eyes, and bright red lips that were highlighted by the slight red on her cheeks from her anger. Her shirt was stuck to her skin and pretty much see-through revealing a black bra covering her decent-sized breast flat stomach and curvy hips. Bre bit her lip losing herself in thoughts of what the wild little woman looked like under her skirt. Emery could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks as she blushed under Bre's fiery gaze. feeling extremely uncomfortable as she was looking at little miss psycho skirts awaiting her response. After a few uncomfortable minutes of being stared at like that by little miss psycho skirts, Emery went to say something but as she opened her mouth with the intent of informing the brunette that's not at all what she meant she couldn't seem to find the right words.
So instead she just looked like a fish out of water opening and closing her mouth. Bre cleared her throat as she forced herself to focus on the task at hand. we're getting off subject, she said, walking over to an old brown leather couch. She sat down folding one leg over the other laying her hands delicately on one knee. Emery looked around for the first time since coming through the wall realizing she was in a room she had never been in before. It was a small room with a fireplace across from the couch.
Emery stared at the fireplace longingly clenching her hands at her side. She couldn't help but notice that there were old leather-bound books from floor to ceiling covering the three walls that didn't have a door on them. Even the wall with the door had bookshelves above the door with old scrolls on them. She was pretty sure some of them were so old they weren't even on paper. Bre snapped her fingers hello little human you're paying attention to me remember. Emery frowned at the term human. Who are you? Emery blurted out immediately regretting it she clenched her fist tighter and gritted her teeth? Bre clenched her jaw. Anger flashing across her cold delicate face.
"Are you purposely trying to annoy," Bre snarled through clenched teeth glaring at the annoying human in anger? Bre started tapping her fingers impatiently as she looked at the angry but innocent expression on the human's face. Bre wondered if the woman had any idea about her powers let alone about Bre or anything related to Bre's world. Groaning in frustration she ran her hand through her hair. "This is going to be harder than I expected'" Bre realized.
Emery found she was too exasperated with this day to maintain pleasantries and started yelling at the brunette sitting across from her again. "Look lady you kidnap me. Threw me through a wall and started lecturing me about fixing something I literally know nothing about and I don't even know your name. So I suggest you start answering some of my questions before I…"You what?" Bre asked coldly examine her nails clearly bored with this conversation already. "Really I want to know what you will do what exactly please enlighten me?"Bre made a gesture for her to continue. Emery went to open her mouth to finish her sentence but little miss psycho skirts cute her off before she could continue talking.
"Wait let me guess you will call the police and tell them… what exactly? That I helped you get into a club you were too lame to get into by yourself. That you got wasted and thought you walked through a wall? That you want to spend the night in a jail cell getting dried out because you obviously have had way more than one-two many drinks among some other stuff right. I'm not usually in a generous mood but I actually kinda like you so let me give you some free advice. The next time someone kidnaps you and pushes you through a magical wall I suggest you sit down, shut up and listen to what the fuck they have to say. Since we seem to have done away with the small talk I'll just be blunt with you.
I don't really know how you knew my sword was a knock off and I don't really care."Breanna launched herself off the couch at the human. Before Emery could even realize what happened she had her back against the wall and a very tall psycho brunette in her face. "But what I do know is you're tight on cash. I know where you live and I know what you are majoring in.
I know where you go to school. I even knew how close to graduating you are and why you were kicked out of that godforsaken school in the first place. I know," Bre said pointing at herself. "That you'" Bre snarled using her finger to poke the human in the forehead pushing her back into the door forcing her head up to look at her "are one of only three people who know that Fragarach is missing. So you are going to help me find it!"
Emery was standing with her back up against a door while staring up at little miss psycho skirts while frantically searching with one hand for the doorknob. Bre leaned forward and whispered in her ear,' You might as well quit looking your not gonna find it. "I don't know…" Emery automatically started to say.
Bre couldn't help herself being this close to the human all she could smell was the alluring scent of rain and sweets. She grabbed the human by the back of her neck cutting her off mid-sentence and suggestively buried her head into the soft part of her neck. Bre inhaled deeply as a shiver of pain mixed with pleasure ran through her. Trailing her nose along the vein in the woman's neck she said in a husky voice, "The doorknob you are not gonna find one."
Emery's heart was racing a thousand miles a minute frozen in fear she stopped looking for the doorknob. In one swift movement, Bre easily threw the human into the couch almost knocking it over. Emery screamed in shock as she went flying through the air landing hard on what should have been a soft surface.
Bre took a step back leaning against the door taking a deep breath as she ran her hand through her hair in frustration. "Get it together Bre the human is no use to you if she's dead. Don't kill her." Bre leveled a cold look at the human and said,"In fact, that door's not gonna be opening anytime soon. So you may as well make yourself comfortable." Emery just stared at her, not moving, still trying to make sense of what happened.
Bre shrugged nonchalantly like nothing happened. "Look woman the house you live in I own. Help me find my sword. I'll let you stay there for free. If you find my sword we can work something out where you help me find relics on a need-to-know basis of course. Think of it as a trial period if it works out I'll hire you full time. Just think of it as an archaeologist you can say you work for the most influential family in town."
Bre fixed Emery with a lazy look waiting for the human to catch up. Bre was worried for the second time that maybe she broke the human's mind. Tapping her nails on the door beside her rhythmically she rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Maybe I should spell it out for her. Let me know if I remember this correctly. Now if I did my homework on you right and I did. Trust me it wasn't hard. You owe me two months' rent and you have a week before your eviction notice says you have to be out of MY house. You owe two semester's worth of bills to that ridiculously overpriced institution you call a school and you have no job.
So I mean unless you have a money tree somewhere I don't know about you might want to take my offer."Bre, let that thought hang in the air for a moment watching Emery think it over like a cat watching its prey. On one hand, she was a psychopath who stalked her and had her locked in a room. Who also seemed to be a little rapey with enough strength to throw her across a room and may have the ability to drag her through walls. She had to admit all of these things seemed like a completely reasonable excuse to start screaming and trying to get the hell out of here. On the other hand, she was being handed the solution to her dilemma.
Besides seriously even if she got out of this room what then she'd have to move to find a new college probably leave town maybe even change her name. Would that even be far enough to get away from this? Then again if she agreed she would be stuck working for miss psycho skirt over here and pretty much wind up selling her soul to someone she doesn't know. Would she be able to pretend her life was normal if she did that? Getting impatient waiting for the human to work through her thoughts Bre asked, ``You're not really this dense, are you?"
At the end of her patience, Bre was starting to get hungry and irritable. Being this close to the human was not helping. "You don't really have a choice whether or not you help me. You can take my deal and do this the nice way or well this room is a much nicer version of the room I have picked out for you. That one you won't be able to leave at least not alive anyway." Emery was startled out of her own thoughts as she listened to Bre's not so concealed threats. Bre was leaning against the door with a lazy look on her face emphasizing how much it didn't bug her to keep Emery locked up until she ran out of use for her By this time. Emery was too exhausted both mentally and physically to fight this or come up with any good answers to get herself out of this.
"I guess I take the deal then." Breanna jumped up clapping her hands. "Yippee," she exclaimed, "I knew you would see it my way."Breanna stopped jumping up and down and asked, "okay so where do we start?' Emery's answers came out of her mouth faster than she wanted them to. "I'm going to need a map.
A record of all the sightings of the sword between now and the last place you know for sure you had the real sword. Oh, and I need colored push pins and colored string." By the time emery was done talking the color had drained out of little miss psycho skirts' face and she looked sick all of a sudden Emery thought. Emery rubbed her temples. She was tired and sore and just wanted to go home. She was so over today.
"What's wrong now," Emery snapped in frustration?"You kidnap me and threatened to hold me hostage until I agreed to find your sword and now you look so thrilled I agreed to HELP," Emery said sarcastically. "Don't tell me you're not a fan of colored push pins?" Little miss psycho skirt slowly looked at her. She had a dazed look on her face as she asked, "what are you still doing here?"
Emery chuckled in disbelief, "Seriously? Hello, the door won't budge remember, and you're kinda leaning on it. Remember you kinda kidnapped me until I agreed to your terms? So again I ask what's your problem. Obviously, there is one, or does jumping for joy make you sick to your stomach often?"
"You insignificant little human Bre snarled. You're lucky I haven't decided just how readily indispensable you are yet." Bre tilted her head in contemplation. Huh, she exhaled. In the next moment, Emery was pinned to the couch and little miss psycho skirts was holding her by the chin with enough force Emery could feel her fingers digging into her jaw bone. Bre was examining her face turning it side to side.
"Although I suppose not every part of you is indispensable, you don't need your tongue to find my sword. So I suggest if you want to continue being able to talk you keep a civil tone when addressing me. Am I understood," Bre said through clenched teeth? All the anger in Emery vanished, taking the color in her face with it. Emery did her best to shake her head yes though she wasn't quite sure little miss psycho would be able to tell what she was doing because she couldn't really move her head.
Bre, let go of Emery's face. "Now that we understand each other why don't you keep your mouth shut I'm trying to think," Bre said coolly. Emery sat up slowly not sure what was going to set little miss psycho skirts off again. Bre paced back and forth talking to herself. "To tell her all the sightings of where the swords been I need to tell her everything. Well, almost everything."
Bre paused for just a moment and then continued her ramblings. 'I'd have to just tell her what she needs to know as it comes up. The problem is Kris would freak. If he found out we would both be dead. Well, she would be dead. I would just wish I was dead.
Although he did say I don't care, Bre just finds my sword. So I'll just take that as permission to do whatever I have to do to find his sword besides what Kris doesn't know can't hurt right. At Least it won't hurt me that much I hope. This will work, it has to work.," Bre turned to face Emery and exclaimed excitedly," that settles it we just won't tell him. I'll need some time to get the stuff you asked for together.
I'll find you when I have it". Bre leaned forward grabbing Emery by the arm saying, "that means you can go now,"dragging her to a standing position. The door across from the couch went flying open. The next thing Emery knew she was falling through it. She landed face-first on a polished concrete floor.
Emery groaned, "well at least it wasn't my butt this time," she said out loud as she stood up. She turned to glare at little miss psycho skirts but she was gone. In her place were three white walls and a porcelain toilet. Emery realized she was standing in a bathroom stall. Emery stood there for a moment listening for sounds of other people in the bathroom to her relief she was alone. Feeling reassured she was in no danger of having to explain why she just fell face-first through the stall door Emery walked out of the bathroom stall. She stopped dead in her tracks mortified at what she saw along the wall in front of her was a row of urinals.
Emery realized then that she was standing in the men's restroom with a renewed sense of urgency Emery ran the rest the way to the door. She slowly opened it. Realizing the hall outside was empty she made a mad dash out of the bathroom and down the empty hall. Cursing her heels Emery stopped at the end of the hall to take them off. Frantically looking around Emery realized she was on the second floor of the club. She had never been so happy to see the inside of this stupid club before.
Emery took in the familiar dimly light dining area. Tables were tucked away in dark corners of the room with the option of privacy curtains. There were lounging areas placed sporadically amongst them.
Her happiness was soon replaced with awkwardness as the scantily clad people sitting amongst the setting areas were engaged in various different forms of copulations. Emery blushed and turned away focusing instead on the music coming from just over the balcony that looked down on the dance floor and the non VIP area. Lights were flashing and loud techno music was blaring The whole club was filled with fog from a couple of fog machines. Emery pushed her way past the girls that were trying to grab guys' attention by dancing too close together with a mixture of real and faked lesbianism.
There was a long stone staircase leading downstairs to the dance floor. Emery scampered down the stairs guessing it had to be around midnight because the club was running at full capacity. She was doing her best to make it to the exist without being swallowed up by the pulsating mob of dancers jumping up and down to the music.
By the time Emery had reached the door to the club, she had been catcalled, pushed, pulled, spun, stepped on, and just barely avoided being puked on. Impatient to get out of the club Emery threw all of her weight into the middle of the two doors and still she was only able to open the door just enough for her to push herself through them.
Emery took in a deep breath of fresh air; it still smelled like rain even though it had quit pouring for the time being. Emery was out of breath but couldn't stand to be there a moment longer. She sprinted to where the valet was and informed him she wanted her car. Impatiently she waited for him to return with her car kicking herself for not finding out where the parking lot was located so she could just go get the damn thing herself.
Finally, the valet showed up with her car. It seemed like it took him forever to walk around it and hand her the keys. Emery snatched them impatiently from him she didn't bother hiding her panic as she ran around the car and slammed the door shut as she got in. Emery didn't realize she was holding her breath until she pulled into her driveway. In fact, she didn't even remember the drive home; it was all a blur. Emery sat there clutching the steering wheel with a death grip for who knows how long. She was contemplating various different scenarios where she got herself out of this mess. Finally she got out of the car shaking her head no closer to figuring out what she was going to do. Emery decided as she walked to the front door that it wasn't safe to live there anymore. The one thing she did know was that whatever it was involved packing.
When Emery got inside she went straight up her stairs and grabbed the suitcase out of her bedroom closet. She opened it on the bed and frowned. It wasn't very large. It was all she had to pack so she guessed whatever fit is what got to go with her. Emery turned and stared in dismay at all the clothes on the floor she didn't even know where to start. As she looked around at all her stuff in panic the reality of the situation finally sunk in. Emery collapsed onto the bed and started to cry. She had no money and couldn't afford to leave. She wasn't sure she could afford to stay either though.
She had just moved there and had nowhere else she could go. All the tears and emotions that Emery had held back throughout the day hit her all at once. She started to sob so violently that it shook her whole body. She grabbed her pillow pulling it towards her. She curled up into a ball around it. Maybe if she held it tight enough it would keep everything from falling apart. Maybe just maybe it could keep her from falling apart.
