Imagining a whole war in front of your eyes was nothing in compared to watching the cause erupting such a thing. She was sleeping like no care in the world. He arrived first to the ends of the wall and all she could do was sleep in the only uncomfortable area of this place.
Ark lowered down to the brunette, folding one knee below other. His hands couldn't stop from reaching her face, the way he held her when she was brought in. Caressing her cheeks, his thumb skimmed on her lower lip.
Her bow shaped lips were intact. Nothing stood apart from how she used to look, she appeared so serene he wanted to wake her up and tell her all about him. About her. About both of them. Soon, the girl was covered with a warm shade of him.
Time must have passed very early for him to not decipher Weave and her husband's arrival. Genevieve called for him first, much to her husband's dismay. Horan remembered how most of their arguments used to consist her closest friend in the beginning of their relation.
"Ark, Ark!" The woman didn't receive an answer from either of the men. What she was certain about was of Ark being nearby, since Menice couldn't avoid the deity's charm. She clutched her husband's shirt to indicate where Ark was but he opted in being the uncaring man.
"Where is he? Take me to him."
"The last I and the ASK remembered, you are my wife. I am not giving you to anyone else. Especially not him!"
"Stop behaving childish. He needs our help," turning from Horan she called for her friend, "Ark, wherever you are please stay away from Lucy. She is really not ready to hear you. Do you unders-"
"If he wanted to be seen, he would have answered you. It's enough now Gene, you need rest."
"I am fine!" She carried her footing blindly into nowhere, knowing her husband's eyes were hawked on her every move. Three feet on and her left foot tripped against a humped tree trunk.
"Do you have to be this stubborn?" He caught hold of her before she could hurt herself.
"If you won't help me, you know what I can do."
Horan narrowed his eyes at her threat, though she couldn't see that, his tightened hold against her waist told a lot. "After this night, I don't want you uttering even a syllable of his name. If you do, you will be forever tied to my bed and know this darling, I am very, very serious."
Genevieve's mind took a different terrain all of an instant, causing her to gulp visibly but he wasn't backing away without her answer. "Okay, I won't say his name. Now, please take me to him."
He looked through his wife's deceptive approach of addressing the man with a pronoun. Yet then, he knew how adamant could she become. After she was done, he will take her out on vacation. It was a needy time they attained one.
She felt herself picked up by him, how much ever angry with her, he let her on her feet knowing how she hated being treated like a damsel. His hands didn't leave her waist though, without a word directing her to their horse, who was again another follower of the devil.
He happened on the horse nibbling Ark's shoes to gain attention but the man was in an entirely different arena.
"What is he doing?" She asked him quietly.
"How did you know Lucy was going to be here? Or did he bring her here?" He was speechless to find the frail, weak girl embraced by none other than Ark Bishop. The last he performed his treatment, she couldn't even open her eyes properly.
Genevieve started speaking, "Ark? Let go of her, please."
His wife lost her eyesight, thanks to the man sprawled like a nobody, but her sense of surroundings amazed and surprised Horan to this day. She instantly predicted Ark near the outsider. Was there something more to it? Something he couldn't see but his wife and the devil knew?
"Go away. Leave us alone." Horan jerked his neck to see the man. Did that man sniff or his ears were running strange tonight? For extra measures, the doctor shook his pinkie finger inside one ear.
His theory was close to be proven wrong until Gene followed the sound and sat on her knees. Instantly, he was by her side as a support for her and only for her. Smiling at him, she continued, "You need to let go of her."
"Don't tell me what I have to do!" His outburst caused the girl to shiver slightly. "I'm sorry, I am very sorry." He said those words close to Lucy's ear, petting her hair gently. As gentle he behaved to Lucy, his demeanor switched for Weave. "She is sleeping, Weave. Leave us."
"Do not talk to my wife like that. Remember who saved her life." Horan was quick in answering the crude. Ark was not becoming angry the first time, rather, the men always had a glaring match but this time they had a reason to be protective too. Which only added oil to the fire.
"Fine. We will leave you." Genevieve replied calmly.
"Thank some remaining goodness in this world, let's go darling." He helped her upright, they were about to turn away when Weave opened her mouth for the last advice.
"Three minutes later this place will be crowded by our community and then you may answer them why you have been holding one woman so close to you. And yes, you also have to answer that to Lucy. You have a lot to answer her."
Horan stood stupefied for a long moment until his wife had already walked ahead and was now calling for him. Nonetheless, he was sure, Gene didn't want to say what she wanted to in his presence. Because what she said, sounded convenient only for both the friends to understand. Sneaking a look behind to see Ark, his eyes found a streak of tear lining the hard jawed man.
On their way back, Horan hoped his eyes played tricks in the dark or he could be naïve from a very important detail he was missing which was happening right in front of him.
