"Huh? Is it morning already?" Fang Jueyu groggily woke up from his sleep. He glanced at the time; it was already past ten in the morning.
He washed up a bit and then started pondering a very serious question—what should he have for lunch today?
After last night's late-night snack experience, Fang Jueyu knew the style of these chefs. No matter what he said he wanted to eat, they would surely bring him something astonishing.
"Uncle Wu, I'll handle lunch myself outside today, no need for you guys to go to any trouble!" Fang Jueyu instructed. Uncle Wu was the head chef. "In the future, if I want something, I'll let you know in advance."
"Alright, just let me know whatever you'd like to eat."
"Oh no! I accidentally overslept and forgot about something important!" Fang Jueyu suddenly remembered that he had added Xinyu on WeChat last night, but he didn't know if she had approved the friend request.
He quickly took out his phone, and sure enough, the friend request had been approved, but the chat was empty. Xinyu hadn't sent any messages either.
"Sorry, I just moved yesterday. I fell asleep listening to your song and didn't get to say hi." Fang Jueyu quickly sent her a message.
"Hahaha, no worries, I know someone as wealthy as you is always busy." In just a few seconds, he received Xinyu's reply, accompanied by a cute emoji.
"By the way, rich dude, where did you move to?"
"I moved to Jiangnan City. Coincidentally, the school is here, so I'm planning to stay here for good."
"School? Are you a student?" Xinyu sent a confused emoji. "I thought you were at least a middle-aged man in your forties or fifties!"
"Hahaha, I'm only 20. I just finished my junior year after the summer break. I'm at Jiangnan University!"
"What a coincidence! I'm also studying in Jiangnan City, but I'm at Jiangnan Music College. My grades aren't as good as yours!"
Actually, Guo Xinyu was being modest. Jiangnan University ranked third nationwide among comprehensive universities, while Jiangnan Music College was only behind the Central Music Academy and Modu Music College.
"Everyone's still guessing about your identity. Some think you're a wealthy idler, others think you're a big business owner. Didn't expect you to be a student."
"Those are just wild guesses!" Fang Jueyu rolled his eyes. Why did being a rich kid automatically mean being an idler? He was a well-rounded and outstanding college student, after all.
"But still, rich dude, your family must be in business, right?" Guo Xinyu speculated he had to be from a prominent family because it's unlikely someone could spend millions on a live streaming platform, which is essentially just entertainment.
"Sort of. Oh, and Xinyu, please don't call me a rich dude. My name is Fang Jueyu, so just call me by that!"
"Alright, then you can stop calling me Xinyu. My name is Guo Xinyu. Thank you so much for your help. To be honest, my family really needed that money. You really helped us out of a tight spot," Guo Xinyu said sincerely. "If I get the chance, I'll treat you to a meal. Just don't mind if the place is too shabby."
"Hahaha, I wouldn't! If you picked somewhere too pricey, I might not even feel comfortable," Fang Jueyu replied. "You might not believe it, but I only found out two days ago that I was this rich."
Guo Xinyu sent a playful emoji, clearly not buying Fang Jueyu's story. "Is it like what people say online, that your parents suddenly told you they're billionaires?"
But Guo Xinyu had no idea that the joke she casually made actually happened to Fang Jueyu. Moreover, his parents were beyond just billionaires; even he didn't know where they had disappeared to in the universe.
Since the two were just getting to know each other, there wasn't much more to chat about, so after some pleasantries, they said their farewells.
Fang Jueyu had something important to do today. Zhuang Ying had sent him a text earlier, saying he needed to be fitted for a decent outfit. After all, his current attire barely added up to a thousand bucks.
Originally, Fang Jueyu was going to find a mall to buy a decent outfit, but Zhuang Ying told him he had a private factory dedicated to tailoring clothes for Fang Jueyu and those who served him. Someone would come in the afternoon to take his measurements.
"Let's go grab some food first!" Fang Jueyu casually dressed in simple shorts and a T-shirt, grabbed his keys, and headed out. Near the school, there were many good restaurants. Some were quite expensive, and he usually couldn't afford them, but now he didn't have such concerns.
Driving out of the neighborhood and through a street, he soon arrived at the school gate. It had been a few days into the vacation, so besides the diligent graduate students, there weren't many people left. The usually bustling school gate seemed rather quiet.
But luckily, with fewer people around, Fang Jueyu quickly found a parking spot. Just as he got out of the car, a familiar voice called out to him.
"Old Fang!" A slightly chubby guy caught up with him. It was his roommate, Cheng Kai. "Whoa, it's really you! Have you gotten taller? You seem different. Did you get plastic surgery? I almost didn't recognize you!"
"Get out of here! I'm still growing, don't you know?" Fang Jueyu joked, noticing his appearance had changed a bit. "Hm? Why haven't you gone home yet?"
"Well, my family wants me to get into grad school. If I were home, I wouldn't have the focus to study, so I stayed at school. At least the library is more productive," Cheng Kai said. "What about you? I thought you went home. Why are you back?"
"Uh, I just moved recently, moved to Jiangnan City," Fang Jueyu wasn't sure how to explain.
"Wow, keeping a low profile! Jiangnan City's housing prices have tripled in recent years, and your family can still buy there. Impressive!" Cheng Kai said enviously. Around Jiangnan University, the average housing price had exceeded 60,000 per square meter, making any home a lifetime's work.
"Hahaha, to tell the truth, my dad told me a few days ago that I'm actually a rich kid!" Fang Jueyu said jokingly.
"Alright, I believe you. I'm exhausted from studying. You treat me to lunch today!"
"No problem, how about Bartolo?"
"Damn! I was kidding, are you serious?" Bartolo, officially Bartolo Spanish Art Restaurant, wasn't super fancy, but it had an average expenditure of over 300 per person, and it would take at least 500 each to feel full. It was quite a luxury for students.
"Cut the crap, for us being roommates for three years, I'd sell blood to take you somewhere nice!" Fang Jueyu joked.
"Oh boy, is this guy's family actually rich now?" Cheng Kai followed in confusion, but knowing Fang Jueyu, he wasn't one to put on airs. Fang Jueyu sometimes dabbled in the stock market with saved-up allowance money, so maybe he'd really struck it rich recently.
It was quite coincidental that when they arrived at the restaurant entrance, two people walked up, one of them his ex-girlfriend Jiang Yuan. As for the one holding her arm, that was her new boyfriend Wang Xuan.
"Haha," before Fang Jueyu could react, Cheng Kai chuckled coldly, "what a small world!"
