His name fell from my lips like a prayer, "Kane."
Kane gazed at me with a warm smile on his handsome face.
In a flash, Lord Alecai had his wickedly sharp dagger pressed to my neck. I felt a prick of pain as it cut me. Even that felt wonderous.
"Make any moves and I'll kill her." Lord Alecai threatened. His eyes were glued to Kane.
Kane's smile fell and his eyes blazed as he turned them on Lord Alecai, "You won't kill her." He said. The too familiar voice sent a shiver down my spine. I hadn't realized how much I'd missed him.
"Won't I?" Lord Alecai smirked.
Kane's jaw clenched and he froze. Lord Alecai lazily raised his free hand towards him. It sparkled with black, sinister looking magic.
One look at Lord Alecai's face told me his plans. 'No!' I thought.
A jet of blue lightning shot from my hand at Lord Alecai. The lightning hit him straight in the chest and blew him backward.
