After some deliberation, Jack decides to drink a health potion to heal his injuries.
He was so busy. He needed to meet Tarud to discuss paper business after this, studied magic with professor Izack afterward, and researched magic circles when he returned home.
Furthermore, he needs to explore the old Blackrock mine and train with Nardar again tomorrow. So waiting for his body to recover naturally is not an option.
Healing potion in this world is not as potent as the one in the fiction stories that could instantly heal an injury. It needs to pass the digestive system first before the body could absorb its effect. Then, enhance the natural healing of the body to repair the broken cells.
The potion also has a strict restriction. If someone drinks one more bottle in the span of one day, the effect will drastically reduce because of the lack of protein in the body after used by the first potion effect.
To restore the original potency, someone needs to wait for twelve hours after consuming food or twenty-four hours if two potions are consumed. Another side effect is making a person eat more than usual.
Healing potion is made by extracting medical plant's beneficial properties carried by mana inside the plants themselves.
Fifteen minutes after consuming the health potion, Jack could move his body again. After verifying that nothing is out of the ordinary, he leaves the training grounds and meets with Tarud to test the first prototype of the wood crusher.
When Tarud saw bruises around Jack's face and body, he was so worried that Jack was bullied by another adventurer. But after hearing his explanation, the blacksmith laughed out loud instead.
Tarud and Nardar can be said to be quite familiar with each other because both of them often team up during a special mission assigned by the guild master himself. Even though both of them rarely talk to each other, they could cooperate quite well during the battle.
Tarud advises Jack to man up and keeps train with Nardar even though it was hard. He said that despite Nardar's stiff and uncommunicative nature, he is an excellent combat teacher.
His teaching method is more inclined toward a practical approach that will yield faster results than conventional methods. As long as Jack could survive his harsh methods, his combat capability would increase expeditiously.
After the experiment, both conclude that the wood crusher prototype is already usable and only needs some adjustment in its gear mechanism to decrease its energy consumption. After a few rounds of discussion on how to improve it, they eventually finalize the product design.
Since his job in Dragon Hamer Workshop is finished, Jack leaves the guild building and proceeds to the Old man Izack's office. Only this time, he was carrying a short sword and shield with a crow-like design that matched his armor.
As promised, Tarud rushed to make them as soon as he ordered them. Luckily it is just an ordinary sword and shield with an uncommon grade, so as a master blacksmith, Tarud only needs to stay up late to make it.
When he arrived, Jack once again became a fuel of old man Izac's amusement. Just like before, he was worried at first but couldn't hold his laughter after hearing how his face was turned into a clown.
"Haha… So you choose Nardar as a combat master, eh?" Old man Izack is still laughing.
"I am impressed by your ability to judge other people's capability, but… haha… your face… Oh god, I haven't laughed this much for more than two-decade. Haha..."
Old man Izack laughs until his stomach hurts. The warm liquid kept flowing out of his eyes while the sound of laughter echoed on Alexandrium Library's second floor.
His laughing voice makes other librarians wonder what happens inside Izack's office that makes him so happy. Because as far as they remembered, their chief librarian had never laughed like that before. Ever.
On the other hand, Jack's bluish face instantly turned red when the old man laughed for the first time. But the shame and embarrassment gradually recede when he realizes how happy the old man is.
Of course, a mental attack like that is not susceptible to Jack that often becomes a bullying subject during the school days.
Somehow, seeing the wrinkles on Izack's face give a warm feeling inside his heart. His demeanor reminded him of the father figure he lost when his family was robbed by accident.
Slowly but surely, the embarrassment and discomfort he felt melted like a candle burns by fire.
When Izack finally has his fill, he tells Jack to wait for him in the lounge behind his office before walking out of the room. When he came back, Izack was bringing along two beautiful waiters holding various dishes in their hands.
After making sure the waiters are no longer around, Izack sits beside Jack and gives him a small bottle filled with green liquid while saying. "Drink this health potion before we eat. You will feel better in an hour."
"No need. I have drunk one before coming here." Jack politely declined.
Old man Izack makes a slight nod before responding. "Hehe. That's a wise move. But remember to eat more after you drink one, or the potion will eat up your body. A skinny guy like you will leave only bone and skin a few days later.
"Don't be shy. I ordered a lot of stuff, so we should fill our stomachs before starting today's lesson."
After gaining Izack's consent, Jack starts shoving the food into his mouth without a care in the world. In fact, his stomach was already growling since he left the adventurer's guild building. But Jack chooses to ignore it because he promised to meet with the old man in the afternoon.
Izack Newtown chuckled and shook his head when witnessing his disciple's behavior. After that, both of them eat their lunch in a cheerful atmosphere.
The food Izack ordered was more delicious than any other food Jack found in Alexandrium. The quality of the ingredients was far better. Added with more spices and condiments, it was surprisingly better than all of the food he ever tasted on Earth.
Without him realizing it, more than eighty percent of the dishes have gone into his stomach. But Izack was not angry or anything.
On the contrary, he was so glad about it because he finally could enjoy eating together with someone without worrying about table manners. Because of that, Izack was able to eat more than he usually does.
"Are you finished reading the book I gave you yesterday?" Asked Izack while patting his stomachs.
Jack could only nod because his mouth was still loaded with roasted meat.
"Good. Tell me what you think about those magic circles?"
