Adrian seriously considered screaming for help when the weapons came out.
He didn't move, even as his eyes located and identified everything that seemed to be set up to either target or defend the core system. The gleaming surface of the core system itself had obviously never withstood their fire, but that didn't mean that it wouldn't fire upon him.
It had taken him nearly a quarter of an hour of maneuvering just to get lined up with the airlock, and the control pads had immediately declined his print. The verbal recognition system had, grudgingly, recognized him after a processing time on his identity that wouldn't have been surprising in some outer sectors of the system.
He had complimented himself on the patience that he'd waited out the process with, while shuddering to imagine what kind of elderly core system had actually been installed on the flawed core. Now he had his answer. Some kind of paranoid military anachronism.
