Brendan, and two of the ships that had accompanied him, brought Gwendolyn Nebel back to Eks Corp's Headquarters as though she were a welcome guest.
The other ships remained to create a more official barrier in the region where the 'accident' had occurred. Eks Corp Security generally had a light presence throughout Central, but the addition of these ships caused a number of other vessels to reroute more carefully around the Nova Corp stations.
Rafaela met them in one of the conference rooms. A screen on one wall displayed a simple 'waiting' connection message along with the Nova Corp logo.
Brendan thought that it seemed like an unexpectedly sly maneuver, and yet utterly typical at the same time. If his father had prepared it, he would barely have noticed. He wondered if Regis had advised her.
Gwendolyn glared at the disconnected screen before stiffly taking the seat across from Rafaela.
