Chapter 9 - Widened Horizons

"...Over the ownership of the Accel-Road, Teehee!"

When everyone, apart from her associates, heard the absolutely insane statement, they were understandably confused. Of course, there are always exceptions, and Jesus just happened to be that exception...

"Hmm... So you finally came, Josefina,"

"Hehe! I can't be left out of such an exciting trip! After all, it's been so long, since the last I've seen you!"

Although she spoke like she knew Jesus for ages, she couldn't have been older than 15 herself...

Looking at her, Gerald had never such an adorable girl; with her charming get-up further accentuating her cuteness! But although he had no idea of the current fashion trends, with them being so poor they didn't even have a computer before Max had visited, he knew good clothes from the bad.

Josefina had on a lovely silk-blue qipao* that went with her Chinese-styled bun. Furthermore was the small dragon earrings on her ears and those cute shoes and cute...

As he was lost in dreamland, the target of his infatuation quickly took notice of his unfocused mind, and just quietly chuckled, before saying:

"Hehe! It's flattering to see such a handsome boy go head-over-heels for little ol' me! After all, I've just turned 70 a few days ago!"

"...Eh?"

-Cough-

But just as the room started to descend into chaos once more, Diana, who stood next to Josefina, coughed a few times before starting to speak.

"Well, since it has been such a tiring trip, allow us to get straight down to business!"

Clapping her hands together, Diana, who unlike her previous apparel of a beautiful Greek-Esque dress, had on something more 'Militaristic' on.

Hearing her clap, one of the people behind her: A giant the size of the hulk stepped forward, he had on a hockey mask, clearly riffing off the hockey-masked menace Jason Voorhees... Anyways, the giant held a table in one hand and two chairs in the other.

Sitting down on one side, Josefina smiled and simply asked for Jesus to sit on the other, showing she considered him to be the leader of their group, despite this being Ann and Gerald's property.

Complying, Jesus also sat down, though unlike Josefina's cheerful aura, he had a much more grim atmosphere surrounding him, with Max standing silently beside him, as if his rage towards Superbia was just a lie.

But not everyone, unfortunately, could adjust on the fly to the high-speed pace the two had just set with their short conversations.

One such example was the inheritors of the factory themselves. Both Ann and Gerald were confused as all get-out in fact! And mixed along with them was Superbia, who was albeit confused at something entirely different...

"Josefi-"

"Jo, please,"

"U-uh, Jo... What do you mean... Decide ownership?"

Confused at the whole situation, Ann couldn't help but ask what was on her mind. And though she tried to be as polite as possible, the fact that metal thing almost hit her wasn't going to get off her mind.

'Ownership, what does that even mean?'

'...I don't know, but I've got the Crysis ready, just in case things get a little dicey'

'G-Gerald, you don't mean?'

'Mm, Also... one last note; Gramps may not be an ally in this situation,'

'What? How could you say that! He took care of us for so-'

'And I'm not saying he didn't, but look at how he so easily agrees to negotiate with her.'

'...'

As if convinced by his explanation, Ann, who was previously just behind Jesus after he went to sit down, quietly tried to shuffle farther away from him.

Although Jesus didn't see her move away, he didn't even need to, as her footsteps were very audible in this silent atmosphere.

-Step! Step! Step!-

Suddenly, one of the men behind Josefina started walking towards her, he was the same man that previously brought the table and chairs for Josefina and Jesus. This same man, who could likely punch a bear to death. This same mass of muscle crouched down slowly and said in the most normal voice you would never have expected from this mountain of a man:

"Dear, I know you're worried and likely afraid of what will happen to this place... And although I'm not in any position to say this; but both Josefina and I don't mean any harm. She is just a bit indelicate with her words, the same goes for Jesus; we're just trying to protect you from more... unsavoury characters,"

"U-um... Who are they?"

"Well, that's a hard question to answer... Let me put it like this: many organizations want power. And I think you know what the Axel-Road was built to make?"

"Weapons?"

"Mm, weapons, and you do know what the GMTT is, right?"

-Nod-

"So imagine what the powers of the world would do if they found out if only two people owned the thing in between them and being the world's most powerful power,"

Ann seemed to understand what he said, but just as he was about to get up. She shot back a question he didn't expect.

"B-but what about you guys?"

"Hmm... Okay, do you know why we're called Ouroboros?"

-Shakes-

"Ouroboros is the symbol of eternity, we aim to preserve the only thing that can be eternal: Conflict. So what would happen if something like an Ω-nuclear weapon falls into the hands of one power?"

"No more conflict,"

"Well yes, but not really. We aim to create large conflicts... If only one country ruled the world. Sure, there would be petty fights, but no wars would happen,"

"So, It would be to our advantage to keep this place from the hands of secular powers,"

As their conversation drew to a close, Ann asked one final question:

"...What's your name mister?"

"...Vaar Patow"

Finished speaking, Vaar went back to his group, the silent giant once more...
