Chapter 2 - The Sacrifice

Canden county is one of the biggest county in the Northern Empire, their empress Celene was the youngest ruler on the continent and was said to be the wisest and most cunning ruler by the commoners. She led her empire through wars, and turbulence politics and rise to be one of the most powerful empires among human. Now however, invaded by demons and undeads. She was restless and sitting in her throne of judgement.

"I will ask you again!, Do any of you have any ideas at all on how to repel this, undead on the south, and demon on the west, we are slowly losing our ground, we've already lost Priria, and Kaven, if we lost Canden too, then I might as well as just chop all your heads and feed it to dogs to offer a sacrifice for our ancestors" said Celene as she slowly move her head and her sweep her eyes through the room among her subjects.

Nobles, and highborns are all gathered here across the room, sitting like a guilty child who knows their faults, but non of them are courageos enough to speak up of fear of the magnificent present of the empress, and well... also fear of losing their head.

Suddenly, someone stand up, a bearded and broad-shoulders man who looks to be around 60 years of age.

"Your majesty, we've done all we can! we've sent all our forces, and conscripted any man who can fights, but the undeads and demons are too strong!, no forces behind human can match them! Perhaps it's time to ask some help from our friends, the Elves!" said Duke Norman the Grand Duke of the north.

"If that's all you can come up with Norman, that you might as well as sit down..., we may be their allies but we've lost contacts with them for 15 years... they are not gonna come around now and even if they do, they wouldn't fight demons and undead for us just because we beg them to" replied Celene shaking her head disappointed in her subjects.

"Perhaps there are ways.... your majesty"

Celene turn her heads to see the person who braves enough to interrupt her scold against Duke Norman who she been at odds with for a long time. Only to find an old mad, hunchback, and an advisor for the second emperor and the previous emperor, her grand-father Marcus Gallas, and her father Elton Gallas.

"What's your idea Advisor Reginald" said Celene

"You said something about sacrifice, which reminds me of something about our northern rituals..."

He paused for a while, inhales a deep breath of air and said

"The Ouroboros Rituals"

It doesn't ring any bells in Celene head until a voice broke out, and people start to discussed loudly, Celene heard someone said something about "forbidden", and "blasphemous".

"Silence!"

"Go ahead Advisor, say your piece"

"Your grand-father and the late emperor have forbidden this rituals but it had been with us since even before the first emperor" said Advisor Reginald

"You may not know this but it's a magic ritual that involves sacrifices, a life for a life, a life for a blessing...."

"What do we need to?" Celine asked

"We exchange a soul of the young for our ancestors blessing" replied Reginald

"A Blessing!?! That's your idea of our solution? forgive me Advisor but baseless superstition isn't going to save us from our foes" Celene was flabbergasted and thinking that perhaps due to the Advisor ages he may be fuzzy and disoriented.

"What if I tell you that this rituals deals with souls and I have a secret technique pass on to me by previous First Magus that could potentially return the soul of the dead... the previous emperor or perhaps the 3 hails heroes of human" Reginald was not budging and his eyes filled with life indicates that he is serious.

"*sigh, if all it takes is just a youngling soul as you speak, we might as well as tried it since no one had any better idea and out of respect for you Advisor" Celene looked dejected not confident in this ritual at all but ultimately decided to do it anyway.

"Prepare the Materials, and all the that the Advisor requires!, We are doing Ouroboros Rituals on my names day in 3 days" Celine ordered

"At once your majesty" All the nobles replied enthusiastically thinking that they don't have to suffer any punishment after all.
