Before the dawn of time as we know it, Earth was inhabited by the gods. For several thousand years, the god's roamed, paving the way for humanity's success. As the years passed, the known gods began expanding. One of the most beautiful among them was Aphrodite.
Early into her immortality, Hera blessed Aphrodite with a son. Aphrodite decided to name the baby "Cupid", the embodiment of love. Before his birth, monuments were built and Aphrodite commanded of her followers to build a city worthy of her son. This nameless city would be where Cupid would grow.
When Cupid came of age, Aphrodite presented him a woman, Psyche of Vanderburgh Village. Although his love was at first unrequited, preferring to gaze at her from a distance, she eventually approached him in the streets. Cupid, the god of love, had experienced his first love at 16 years old.
The days fell into years and it came time for Psyche to run out of time. Laying limp on her bed, Cupid stayed with her as she made her way to her final journey.
Tearfully gazing at her husband, Psyche said, "I'm afraid, Darling. I'm afraid of Oblivion, of shutting my eyes and nothing's there on the other side. Gods help me; I'm so scared."
Cupid raised her fingers to his lips, saying, "Why do you fear sleeping? You've known me and the higher beings long enough to know that there is always something waiting for you when you go. For such a wonderful woman as you, I guarantee you a place that's as warm and beautiful as your soul."
When dawn broke the next day, Cupid cursed mortality. Before burying his love, he removed a piece of her rib cage and fashioned the bone into a bow. Infusing the weapon with magic, he began the long enduring legend of Cupid's Bow, a weapon with legendary power and the ability to grant immortality to it's first two masters.
As of this moment, the bow's location is unknown. The knowledge of it's whereabouts went with Cupid when he ascended Mount Olympus with the gods upon the dawn of the Human Era. Many hear the tale of the bow and spend their lives looking for it, but nobody has been closer to finding it than they were centuries ago.
Cupid's city, now known as Vanderburgh, is home to Viscount Vanderburgh and his lineage. Believed to have been descended from Psyche herself, no family is more respected than them. Like a phoenix, a new legend is about to rise from the ashes. A legend centuries in the making.
This land, where Ericka von Vanderburgh resides, is where this legend begins.
