Chapter 6 - Daunting destiny

The siren resounded below deck, a few moments later, rustling and footsteps could be heard. Sailors rushed back and forth between the upper and lower levels, seemingly absorbed in work.

A few people could be seen making some sort of observations and jotting them down in a translucent floating record books.

Jacob and Elijah stood on the deck, a bit perplexed. The shaking and rumbling didn't stop, but these busybodies had paid no attention, just carried on with their duties as if it was something common.

If one looked down in the sea, water could be seen pushed back by a thrust force under the ship's hull.

The siren sounded once again, this time a man announcing a few instructions to those on board.

"Attention all workers, please proceed to engine management and axis control center, all passengers please relocate inside, we might experience a turbulent flight due to unsteady air currents ahead!"

---flight?

Jacob was sure he hadn't heard wrong, a flying ship?

His face regained some color as the ship lifted off the water, he sucked in a cold sigh

"haaaa this is amazing", if he had to explain it in one word, Breathtaking.

As they were still idling on deck amazed by the take off process, Alfonso walked up from the stairs, still holding his notebook. The massive air currents on the ship seemed to not affect him at all.

He effortlessly walked over and signaled for them to come down instead.

Jacob saw him say a few words as he pointed downstairs, but nothing could be heard as his ears were still ringing from the torrential wind currents as the ship blasted upwards.

The rumbling engine's simply washed away all sounds onboard.

Jacob steadily walked towards the stairs as Elijah followed him. Once he regained his bearings, Elijah wasn't too shocked, he'd been on flying ships before, but none had such a hectic takeoff, it was usually floating in the air before he even got on.

Once the three were under-deck, the doors to the stairs shut themselves tight, the air pressure outside wasn't stable enough to walk around, therefore all exits were to be shut before the ship settled on a constant altitude and speed.

-------------------------

Jacob walked slowly, his face a still a bit flushed, he was pondering on the machine's the ship was using..

of course.....he couldn't understand it at all, but he still loved thinking about all the brilliant inventions people had come up with.. A flying ship was definitely not what he was expecting to ride on...

"Do mages always travel like this?" Jacob thought,

it was an extravagant method but he had to admit, it sure was effective, he could somewhat tell that they were going at least 10 if not 20 times faster than before!

He walked into the room and sat on one of the chairs nearby, and soon the others did the same.

"You two should rest if need be, we are still a bit far from the capital, it will take around 8 hours." Alfonso grabbed a kettle and started brewing tea

Elijah seemed a bit exhausted, so he chose to sleep further.

Whereas Jacob..... surprisingly seemed fully healed and was beaming with energy. He instead chose to accompany Alfonso in a small chat.

The journey was still longer than they thought, but both parties were involved in a lengthy chat, Jacob had endless questions for Alfonso. Similarly, seeing the innocent and curious boy, Alfonso decided to depart some of his wisdom and insight gained from serving as the chief inquisitor for the duke.

A few hours later, Jacob was slumped over in his chair, a bit drowsy, he'd already started drooling and could barely hold his head straight.

"As expected, his body is exhausted" Alfonso examined Jacob who was already knocked cold. Initially, he was curious as to how the boy had shown such devastating strength was it talent?

However, after he judged his physique, his mind was in turmoil.

He removed his palm from the boy's forehead....

"This is... a special physique for sure...." One had to know that only a few of these physiques ever appeared in each generation! It was the very embodiment of heaven's favor. It wouldn't be wrong to call those people 'Destiny's Child'.

Every physique had its own abilities and talents, although he couldn't judge Jacob's latent talents, in the future the boy would surely develop immense strength.

However, life was not always beautiful, with great destiny, came great obstacles and hardships. The boy was destined, but he didn't know how many of those obstacles would Jacob overcome. Usually, these blessed individuals were picked up by great people, nurtured under careful care.

Otherwise, any mishap could forever destroy their gift. Jacob was not connected to any of those. But now the boy had appeared as a companion of Elijah Ashworth, a notable factor. Not many knew the true reality of the prince.

But he was the chief inquisitor of Reneva. How could he not know? Elijah was shunned due to his talent as a blademaster. Some were fearful of his future power and wanted to nip it in the bud, some wanted to make him a puppet. No royalty wanted to be seen with the 'Bloodthirsty Prince'.

Alas, fate had brought the two together...

Alfonso carried Jacob out of the chair and tucked him into bed, he slowly walked towards the door and turned the lights off.

"I hope your curiosity and innocence never change, dear boy." Alfonso muttered.

He shuffled his pockets around and walked into another spare room, slightly closing the door behind him.

A small rune appeared in his hand....he started talking.

"Hello... it's me... yes, target neutralized, currently travelling back.... you may inform the duke.."

---- A small rustle could be heard from the other side as the receiver switched with someone else.

"Chameleon.......good work...report fully when you reach", A raspy voice responded.

Alfonso took a pause as he recognized it,

"Yes my lord.....as you wish" he replied.
