Huang Lei's P.O.V*****
"Huu... G-General??", Jia Li said.
I hugged her tightly, I was so scared. It was too much of a task for my heart to beat normally that I made sure she isn't dead. I wonder how many prayer I had asked God in this one second. I must be crazy...
"Son!", My mother came to me limping. She came and hugged me. I guess it was too much of a thing for her.
"So, I would like to know what exactly happened.", I asked the maid, as I carried Jia Li inside.
"I will tell you.", Jia Li said.
"Are you not tired?", I asked.
"No. I am fine, More better than before if I must say.", she said.
The maid let Mother inside and Xiao Li and my troops began taking care of the soldiers. They wouldn't wake up. Doctors were called who told they would get up normally after a few hours. I sat alongside Jia Li.
"So.. What happened?", I asked.
"It is a big mess.. Didn't I send it all in a form of a message?", Jia Li asked.
"No.. I didn't get any. But where is brother?", I asked
All of them looked gravely at me. Not responding, Jia Li didn't make eye contact, I asked them all again,
"Where's brother?",
"He is no more.", Jia Li said.
"No.. he is alright..", A voice said from behind us.
We all turned back to see, it was the second daughter of Marquis Huo, my sister-in law, Qinyang.
"Sister, What do you mean by that?", Jia Li asked.
"I mean to say, the master of Lei, is totally fine, just a bit injured, but otherwise fine, he can be back to normal in ten days.", Qinyang said with a smile.
"Oh! Thank God! Did you save him?", Jia Li asked
"Yes, Of course I did..", she said.
"Wait a minute, save? injured? What exactly happened here?", I asked.
The next five minutes or more, I spent listening to the whole story, on how Peng claimed my wife was with his child, the poisoning, capture of the land, workers changes and finally how they escaped,
"I too don't know what happened, but according to his conversation, apparently, Brother was cornered and assassinated.", Jia li said.
"Yes. That is true, The location they tried to assassinate, was behind the famous Tea house and gambling house, I found him and treated him, I even killed a few assassins.", Qinyang replied.
"Oh! Thank you Miss Qinyang", I said.
Slowly the whole thing went back to normal, All the guards woke up, as expected Peng's punishment was only him spending a year in his home and his funds being used as relief funds. Jia Li was better than before, though she still kept her distance from me. My mother invited Qinyang to stay for a while so as to return the favor, but the only thing weird was Brother.
After coming back home from the attempt, his eyes never left Qinyang. He randomly flinches and turns beet red. The doctor when I asked told me it was spring time... But isn't it summer now?
I deployed few troops back to the mansion and manage it for a month. In a month I would return back. It was boring. There was nothing else to do. I went to visit Jia Li in her courtyard, but saw, her and Guan sitting close to each other and chatting while laughing..
It was unpleasant. I didn't like it.
"Guan!", I called him over before I knew it.
"y-yes Lord!", he came running over.
"Have you completed looking over the items to be sent?", I asked.
"Um, No My Lord.", he said.
"I hope you can get to it soon.", I said.
"Y-yes.", he went away.
I felt satisfied. I looked at Jia Li, she was scowling, so that much she enjoyed Guan's company huh... I went over to her.
"What are you doing?", I asked her.
"Reading novels... actually along with Guan, if u hadn't interfered. Guan also prefers the same characters as me.", she said.
"Which book though?", I asked.
"A romance novel, 'The road to being a conqueror'.", she said.
"The road to being conqueror? sounds like one of the age old books, the crown prince had to compulsory read.", I said.
"No! It is a romance novel... Mine and Guan's favorite character is the side character, Jin , who plays the role of a scholar.", she said squealing.
"What's that great with scholars.. They are boring.", I said.
"No no, Jin has such an awesome body!!!!!! His hairstyle too is awesome!", she said @u@
"huh.. alright..", I said.
I went over to my study, I had a lot of work to do.... but I was still bored, so I took a novel, a romance one, from the rack, they were bought by Xiao Li, saying it was awesome. I began reading it...
'The tale of two minds'..(Hmm.. Interesting title)
'There was once a girl, from a different world, a world where you could live freely, but she was suffering..(ohh.. she is just a weak person then.)
'She committed suicide by jumping in the water...(she's totally weak.. no matter what, we must live our life completely!)
"Then she got transmigrated into the body of an imperial princess, the sole princess of the Empire...(she became a ghost and possessed another's body?? Crazy Novel.. It talks about witchcraft so easily)
'she met one handsome official, blah blah... he saved her blah blah...(God... This is one sappy novel. I can almost know what happens next...)
'The End'...(What?? That's it? Nothing else? It was a bit intriguing in the end..... but huh it wasn't that great)
I took another novel, from the pile. It was a rather steamy one. With each one of their love scenes detailed, with all dialogues and everything, there were even illustrations. God knows what kind of stuff Xiao Li is reading...No wonder he is so unruly.
That to be honest, made me feel weird all over. But I got over it, when I went to the next novel in pile, it was tragedy romance. I could feel the pain. In middle it got really boring but it was worth it. When I looked up again, it was night.
I slept peacefully, not knowing what awaited me the next day....
