Ascension to Another World, Part 1

This is Earth, but not exactly the same Earth. All of a sudden in 2010, large towers appeared in cities all over the world causing fear in governments across the world. They tried sending armed forces into the towers to investigate, reports said that monsters within the tower were immune to bullets and shells, the tower couldn't even get pulled down nor can missiles destroy it, some countries got desperate and used nuclear arsenals. And so, the government disappeared. For 2 weeks, the world was oblivious to the government's failure until a new order came. Deities came down and brought change to the system, they arranged factions for anyone to join, and decided that they would let mortals who joined their factions become ascenders to climb the towers. In just 1 week, a new life was brought across the world.
