Chapter 38 - Dad?

Lumas watched as Udealus' body reformed, it was slightly disgusting. Like watching a bunch of pitch black worms writhe and morph to reveal the upper half of a skeleton with pitch black muscles cascading over the black bones, Slowly the skull began to form as it finished a guttural roar resounded through the halls informing everyone of its revival.

Looking back Lumas waited for some sort of permission from Finn, receiving a nod a smile rose to Lumas face as he strode forward going over everything he knew about Udealus, just as Lumas neared the Towering skeleton blue flames lit up in its eyes as it seemed to gaze into the depths of Lumas sending chills down his spine

Seeing this Finn muttered with a bit of worry "A variant…" some people turned their heads to Finn after hearing his words but those words didn't seem to reach Lumas as Shadowsteel appeared in his hands, taking a stance he let out a lengthy breath, Lumas' body leaned forward until he was on the tips of his toes, his head nearly touching the ground before he burst forward the ground cracking behind his as traces of greenish black flames wisped around in the cracks

Meeting Udealus head on while lashing out with Shadowsteel sparks illuminated the darkness of the room as a ave of pitch black meet Shadowsteel, Lumas felt a numbness in his arms after that exchange but he didn't relent, Magic was nullified once it reached A meter around Udealus so Lumas could only rely on his sword skills to bring him out as the winner

Sliding across the ground as if it was ice Lumas evaded the black sword only for a shadow like appendage to shoot from the ground attempting to skewer him forcing him to jump, while he was midair Udealus' black sword was rapidly approaching threatening to bisect Lumas, with a spin thanks to small explosions caused by his magic Lumas avoided being bisected only to cut an arrow in half as Spartoi began to form

The expedition watched with focus as Lumas did the seemingly impossible, not even Ottar could solo Udealus and yet they all expected this young teen to do something the strongest in Oriaro couldn't… However everyone present was internally rooting for Lumas, to somehow, someway, defeat the monster that the guild lists as Level 8, While Udealus himself is probably only Level 6 in stats his unique skills such as Magic Nullification, Shadow Manipulation, and Spartoi conjuring his strength is greatly above his stats

It usually takes a whole frontline party consisting of Level 5 through 6 a whole day to defeat Udealus even then losses are guaranteed, but this one is a Variant something they all haven't seen… It could be ranked at Level 10 and they wouldn't know until it was too late, Finn was already beginning to curse himself for not thinking this far ahead, recently he had been ignoring the pains in his thumb because as long as Lumas was present it would go numb

Susan watched intently as Lumas graciously evaded everything Udealus threw at him, but she saw that with the every dodge Udealus would get closer as if adjusting itself to Lumas, Ais watched with deep intrigue as she followed Lumas movements dedicating them to memory, ever since Lumas worked his way into her life her previous goal has become somewhat abstract, she no longer saw the need to push herself like she previously has… and somehow her growth hasn't stagnanted, this is the most interesting thing Ais has seen… It was almost like just being with him made her stronger… but such a thing couldn't… shouldn't be possible right?

Finding that he wasn't getting anywhere, Lumas grunted in dissatisfaction as he recalled Shadowsteel, a sword is pointless if it doesn't hit the enemy… So Lumas decided it was time to test Udealus Magic Nullification

"I Lumas call upon the whispered secrets of a forgotten age,"

Slowly raising his hand Lumas continued in little more than a mutter

"Open the gates of the shattered age, and surge forth"

As a burning red light emanated from his chest, Lumas mana surged into the surrounding slowly collecting into the palm of his hand

"I, who has broken the Taboo call upon Yggdrasil, Descend your punishment onto me"

The elves present froze, the Taboo… Calling upon Yggdrasil itself… Who, who was Lumas really?

"As I vanquish my foes, I accept my punishment, Reduce… All to null"

The red light in Lumas chest grew blindly bright as the mana in his palm condensed becoming to heavy for Lumas' body to bear using 'Equivalent Exchange' Lumas sacrificed more than half his stamina to fuel the magic that was draining his mana reserves to nearly the point of mind down, Lumas began to panic he didn't choose this spell before he knew it he was absent mindlessly chanting

*Pop*

A harmless sounding pop resounded throughout the room before everyone's vision was dyed in a prismatic light, as that light descended onto Lumas the mana that had converged into his hand shot forward obliterating everything in its path leaving distortions in its wake

'Welcome to the Awakening…My Inheritor'

Before Lumas could even process the unfamiliar voice his body went limp as he fell to the ground

[!Ding!]

In an endless well of Mana, a man in a loosely thrown on robe and wild unkempt hair rhythmically tapped his finger upon a table occasionally rambling as he looked towards the boy resting on the table, he didn't expect this… the moment he went to gift the boy the inheritance his whole body shut down as if he was dead but his soul remained as if something at the forbidden level was protecting it, he has already seen through the two pathetic 'Godly/Ungodly' artifacts, but whatever else was there… well it was… interesting…

=========================================

A certain overpowered god was currently throwing a tantrum, accidentally destroying whole multiversal realms as his divine energy exploded from his body

"WHO DARE STEAL MY 'CHILD' FROM ME… I WILL FEAST ON YOUR VERY EXISTENCE IF I FIND YOU…"

His words slowly came to a halt as he looked over to a screen floating above the armrest of his chair…

"Da… Dad?!"
