Chapter 1 - The Sixth Princess

I look different again.

I see.

I guess I'm 'her' at this moment.

Did I fall asleep in class? Geez. The teacher is going to pierce my ears when I wake up. Damn it. It's getting more uncontrollable.

"Princess? Are you alright now? You've been asleep since yesterday."

I glanced at the side where the gentle voice was coming from and saw an old woman in a maid uniform. Lashira, my nanny, was looming over my bed with a worried look in her eyes.

I forced a smile and answered, "Don't worry, nanny. I'm fine now."

But it seems she didn't believe me.

"Are you sure? Ah, I should've never left you alone. Your fragile body... blah blah blah blah."

I closed my eyes to get a feel of the atmosphere around me.

Arizel Laurentia, the sixth princess of the Western Empire.

'I've been experiencing this for many years and I still can't get used to it.'

She's unbelievably frail despite being born in the family of warriors and was immediately forgotten. Of course, this isn't true.

'I just spend most of the time sleeping so I can live as Jin-Ah in Korea.'

I looked outside and squinted my eyes. Sun rays seeped into my room along with the warm breeze of summer.

"Hmm?" My forehead started to crease. "There's a weird scent in the air. Are there any guests perhaps?"

"As expected of the Princess," Lashira finally stopped blabbering nonsense and looked at me with a proud gaze. "Your senses have become more sharpened."

"Haa... there you go again, speaking nonsense."

Lashira is the only one who knows I am considerably special like the others. However, she assumes that it's due to my high aptitudes in that area that I had become frail.

"But it is true, princess!"

"Enough. Just hurry up and tell me."

She bowed and smiled, "There is a party hosted by the Western Empire to celebrate the birth of our land. Envoys from the East, South, and North Empires are coming one after another so it's been quite busy."

"I haven't been invited to greet them? No invitations came?" My shocked voice echoed in the room.

Seriously? I mean, I know it's annoying but I know the basic royal etiquettes.

'Even with the rumors, they should still consider me a princess.'

Lashira shook her head. "No invitations came but some letters were sent to remind the princess to rest."

"Ha!"

Rest? Those idiots still had the gal to warn me not to interfere? My goodness.

I looked at the desk across the room. Stacks of envelopes were laying there along with the Imperial seals. There was no need to do open them. Though they came from the family, I knew they weren't the ones who wrote it. They probably paid someone to do so.

"The news of the family being worried about me is probably spreading, right?"

"Huh? Oh, yes princess."

I smirked mockingly, "People are going to think we're such a lovely family."

"Princess..."

"It is okay, Lashira." My lips formed a thin line as I stopped a snicker from leaving my lips. "They're probably so happy that I'm out of the competition for the throne and that old bastard probably didn't want me to show up so the embarrassment of the royal family can be hidden."

"Dear, God of War! Please be careful of your words, princess! That can be accounted for treason!" Lashira looked around us warily.

"Hehehe!" I couldn't stop the snicker this time. "They sent so many letters. It makes me wonder how important these 'envoys' are. Hihihi."

"P-Princess..." Lashira gulped, knowing I was up to no good again.

My eyes went back to the mirror in front of my bed. I saw my golden hair gleaming like melted gold as I bath in the sunlight.

I smirked and snapped.

SWOOSH!

"Kyakk! I knew it! Princess, please stop!" Lashira shrieked but I didn't listen to her.

Divine magic flowed from the tips of my fingers and formed a pale blonde, silky fabric. I used it to cover my eyes.

"Lashira."

"Y-Y-Yes?"

"They are having a party right now, correct?"

"That is the case, Princess."

I pushed my body off the bed and moved around the room as if I had no blindfolds on. I reached for the elegant wheelchair at the corner of the room and sat on it.

Frail princess.

Blind princess.

Crippled princess.

I was famous for being frail, blind, and cripple. However, it was just a play to deceive them. This was the safest way to build my own power without getting killed.

The blindfold increased my other senses.

The wheelchair saves my energy and I use it to practice the flow of mana inside me all the time.

But the most significant help of this was to tarnish my image.

If I look weak and powerless, the ones in the seat of power will let their guard down around me. Why wouldn't they? I made myself look so worthless they wouldn't even think about looking at me.

But it seems they're wary.

With many Kingdoms aiming for our land, they're bound to use anything they can. The Western Empire's royalty must've thought there's a chance I'll be supported even in this situation.

"It looks like I'll have to show the foreigners that I'm a useless card."

"P-P-Princess? I really think you should stay here."

"Lashira, inform the main palace of my visit."

"...I understand."

With a disheartened look, Lashira left my room.
