Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Buying a cultivation manual

Toro Toro, our mc, stands before a little shop in his city, where he lives in an orphanage. The name of the shop is 'Robo's Cultivation Shop' and like the name implies it sells items used by cultivators.

Though it says it is a shop for cultivators, in reality, it is only for wannabe cultivators. The real immortal cultivators from the empires, dynasties and immortal sects look down on these shops if they even knew that they exist.

And while Robos shop only sells basic and beginner, that is low-level cultivation items, it is famous in the Green River City and even a little beyond it.

Because here even normal mortal commoners can buy cultivation manual to begin their path of the dao. Normally one can only buy or get a manual if they join various organizations like the army of the local kingdom or some local wannabe sects.

Of course, the quality of the cultivation manuals is also not something one can just compare, but for mortals who want to try their luck, it is enough.

After taking a huge breath, our little mc with a common appearance and short brown hair and blue eyes goes into the shop that will change his life.

Entering 'Robo's Cultivation Shop' Toro looks around to admire the cultivation items. On the various shelves are good-looking weapons, books, talismans, bottles with medicine, and some other cultivation items.

At the end of the shop is a counter made of wood, with an old man standing behind it.

Looking at Toru, the old man says with a kind smile, "Oh, young one, did you get lost?"

Stealing his resolve, Toru goes to the counter and says with a slightly excited voice that he cannot suppress, "No, no. I want to buy a cultivation manual!"

"Hahaha, trying your luck on the way of the dao? How good it is to be young, hahaha... Ok young one, what kind of cultivation manual do you want? And ich which price range?", said the old man while laughing to himself sometimes.

As if Toro already thought about the question of the old man he answeres quickly, "I don´t know how talented I am and I do not have much money, so the most basic ones and can you show me your cheapest manuals?"

While having a knowing smile on his face, the old man sighs, "Huh, you are like the most people who are starting to cultivate. Well, the most basic one is also the cheapest and most commoners are buying it. The manual has actually no name and no one knows who made it or from where it came. Even the local shops, like mine, do not know who sold it first. But it does not matter."

After getting a normal-looking book from one of the selves in the shop and putting it on the counter the old man continues, "Here it is because it has no real name everyone calls it the [Basic Cultivation Manual for Beginners]. It has some mantras for better sensing the spiritual qi and even a body cultivation chapter. It also has another extra chapter, but I do not know what this one does. Is there anything else?"

Toro is too excited to even think of buying something else, not that he would be able to, "No, no! This is everything" he says with a broad smile.

The old man knows the excitement of this kid, after all, he was also this excited in the past, but he also knows that this excitement will most likely vanish into disappointment. Though knowing all this, he does not rebuke him, but says, "That makes 80 copper coins. And you probably know this but I will say it still. You are not allowed to show this manual to any other person, though no one can really control this."

Nodding to the old man Toro pays for the manual with around 80 percent of his whole wealth. After that, he walks, nearly sprinting, back to the orphanage and his room where he starts his first cultivation session.
