Finn's P.O.V.
"dude, there's a reason why I don't eat in the cafeteria," I mumbled and he put his arm around my shoulder. "I know" he said we went to the cafeteria.
We sat on a table with few guys sitting around it and one guy raised his hand at Jason. "Jason, who's your new friend?" one of the he asked and we took a seat. "everyone this is Finn Parker" everyone have there eyes on me and went silent. "Is there something on my face?" I mumbled.
"no" Jason said and shook his head, "then why is everyone's face looked like they've seen a ghost?" I asked. "don't mind them, they're just happy to see my best friend" he said jokingly. "best friend my ass"
"so you're 'the' Finn?" a girl came and sat beside me, "what?... why are you making it sound like I'm someone famous and yes I'm Finn, Parker" I furrowed my brows.
why is everybody being weird around me? "Ava Pierce, you're new best friend" Jason laughed "you guys are weird, we just met" I made a confused face.
"you guys stop messing around Finn" Red mumbled from a distance and joined the table, she sat on the opposite side of me "you know this guys?" I asked her in a whisper tone "yes, we're childhood friends, Ava and Jason are my best friends" she mumbled.
"so that explains why they're claiming me as their 'best friend' ". I scoffed while Ava and Jason laughed at me "yeah, they're just messing with you" Red explains. "you should hang out with us" Ava mumbled. "Oh wait, you should come to the party tonight" Jason said.
"No, I can't, I have homework to do and I don't really like too crowded places," I try to reason out. "come on man, just this once, this is our last year in high school, I promise you won't regret it." Jason mumbled. "yeah he's right, you should come" one of the guys on the table said.
"I don't know, I've never went to a party before" I mumbled "then that's plenty enough reason why you should come, you're missing the fun" Jason said and shook my shoulder. "Alright, fine, but just this once" I mumbled.
"great, I'll pick you up at 8" Jason offered. "okay, I should go now and it's nice meeting you all" I stood up and glanced at Red, she waved her hand "see you later Finn," Red mumbled and I nodded.
I left the cafeteria and proceeded to attend my next class,
After all of my classes are done I went to the music club and entered the room, Anne was already there and a few members, "Anne, where's Mr. Campbell?" I asked.
"Oh, he won't be here today, he texted me to lead the group for today, so are you ready for today's practice?" she informs and glanced to the rest of the members. "whenever you're ready Anne," the guitarist mumbled.
"I actually can't practice with you guys today" I mumbled, Anne turned around and glanced at me, "why not?" she mumbled, "I'm picking up my brother and sister and I don't want them to wait for too long, they might wonder off after school." I explained.
"Yeah, sure, I would've done the same," she mumbled and smiled at me. "thanks Anne, I promise I'll catch up with you guys tomorrow," Anne nodded.
I went to the parking lot, "Finn!" Sarah waved her hand at me, she is sitting on a bench near the parking lot and an opened book on her hand. "What's up?" I mumbled, "nothing, just waiting for the time to pass by" she mumbled, "are you waiting for someone?" I said. "no"
"so, what are you doing here anyway," I mumbled, "the library was closed early due to staff meeting." she mumbled, that must be why Mr. campbell didn't show up on music club. "do want a ride home?"
"thanks for the offer Finn, but I have a shift at the Café in less than an hour" she mumbled, "okay, see ya later then" I said. "see ya"
I immediately drove off and went to Abby and Jacob's school and they we're already waiting at the gate for me, thankfully a school guard was with them. 'beep, beep' I honked the car and waved at them. I opened the car and they sat behind the driver's seat.
"how's your day at school guys?" I looked at them from the mirror, "Abby and I got a star" Jacob mumbled and flashed their star on their uniforms, "wow that's great!" I said and kissed their cheeks. "now let's go home and tell mom, okay?" they both nodded and I started to drive on the way home.
I parked the car in the garage and took Abby and Jacob out. we went inside the house and mom was baking a pie, "how was your school kids?"
"Jacob and I got a star, look" they showed there star proudly. "good job, now go sit behind the table, I prepared dessert for later" mom mumbled. "Yay!" they both shouted and ran to the dining room.
"mom I'm going to a party tonight," I mumbled ,"okay" she agreed "wait, you're not gonna stop me?" I asked. "Finn, you've never asked to go out for a party, so I'm happy that you do, I was worried about you, because you have never introduced a friend or saw you with a friend hanging out with you"
"What about Patrick, I hang out with him" I said, "yeah and that was like 6 years ago" she mumbled. "you have to enjoy your life while you're still young Finn, put yourself out there and meet lots of people, make friends and memories, because when you get old you won't have time for those things and you will regret not doing it when you were still young." she said and I nodded. "but I already have you guys."
"you know, I met your father when I was your age and I didn't know we would end up together since he was dating someone else, but I wasn't sad because I had friends until he came to me and asked me out," she mumbled. "that's it?"
"well I could go on forever, but I'm sure you know what I mean, my love story was over and maybe it's time for you to try and make your own." her words dug deep into my mind, she smiled and hugged me.
"I want you to be happy and surrounded by people who will have your back when you needed them the most" as much as I hate socializing, I hate that mom was right, I have to try to be less anti-social. Making friends was hard for me, I made friends before but they we're turning against me including Patrick.
Patrick was my best friend until I caught him stealing from a store and I knew from that moment on I that I should stop hanging out with him, because stealing is the most shameful sin. My father told me that no matter how poor you are, you must never steal.
He threatened me to not report him and that made me scared of him, I didn't told anyone about him and we stopped hanging out after that.
Trusting was easy when you're a kid, but when you get older you grow selfish and mature.
"so what time are you leaving?" mom asked. "Jason will pick me up at 8" I said, "look at you making friends already, it was the right choice to live in this town than in the city after all." I was going to say that Jason is not my friend, but I don't want mom to put a frown on her face. "thanks mom," I mumbled. A mother's joy is to see their kids happy.
I went to my room and changed my clothes after dinner.
