Chapter 31 - Infiltrator

Chapter 31

(Unedited)

"Sergeant, what is happening out there?" a tall man with a pair of a long black mustache on his face walks out of his room while fixing the buttons on his uniform.

Inside the room lays a woman lying on the bed with tattered clothing and bruised body. It is clear that she was forced by the man and has been beaten while the man enjoys himself. The people outside of that room has heard the woman's pleading voice for over an hour before everything went silent and only the man's grunting sound could be heard.

They did not know if the woman is still alive or has already died, however, judging from the movement of her chest, it is clear that she just fainted.

The sergeant who heard him turned his attention to the man and said with attention.

"Commander, we heard that a couple of our scouting party has encountered someone or something. But no one has reported to us yet… We assume the worst and have already considered those mercenaries in those areas MIA." The Sergeant replied.

"Damn it, we need to ask for assistance from the other mercenary groups… Tell them that we would comply with their demands. As long as we can survive this, then we could earn back what we have lost." The man said with an angry glint in his eyes.

When the commander died out there, they received a distress signal from them and told them that the group is being attacked by a single super-powered human. However, they did not believe this. The reason is that it is impossible for a single super-powered human to do such a thing. Humans are still humans even though they have received some enlightenment in their own powers.

It has only been a few months since the discovery of this weird energy and has strengthened some people, so it is impossible for anyone to have such power as to destroy an entire convoy of heavy vehicles.

Since the attack began and their patrols are have been missing, they knew that there might be truthfulness in what the distress signal has said.

"Yes, sir…" the sergeant said as he began to contact the other mercenary bases to offer them some reward for their assistance.

Many agreed and immediately said to deploy some forces towards the small depot which is the base of the Blue Serpent Mercenary group.

As I enter the base in a small depot I noticed around 3 Humvees and two trucks inside a garage beside a building. I can sense around 20 armed men patrolling the outside perimeter of that building. I easily bypass the security of the building and soon arrive on the second floor and carefully opened the window.

Sneaking inside the building is very easy as I could sense whether there are people around me within a 20 meters radius by just using my sharp hearing.

I soon found myself inside a dark room, but the darkness did not affect my vision. Inside that room, there are some rifles on the table and some handguns and bullets along with some grenades. I did not waste this chance and immediately gathered those things that I am able to carry on my body.

In fact, I can actually take everything, but it would only be cumbersome for me.

I sneaked outside and soon arrive in a room with many people in it. But I could sense that the people inside that room seem to feel tensed.

"This is bad, something is wrong…" I thought as I carefully scanned my surroundings.

Suddenly at the top corner of the hall, I was standing near the door of that room with many people, I noticed a surveillance camera.

I have forgotten that in the world outside of the forest, surveillance cameras existed. I was too engrossed in the forest and using my instinct and senses, I was able to detect any prey I can hunt. However, in the city, I suddenly remember that everything here is high-tech.

Though they know that I am outside, they did not know that I already saw the camera. I slowly retreated back in a corner to hide from the camera.

"Where is he?" whispered one of the mercenary soldiers inside the room while holding his rifle in his hands.

"Shh… I think he just retreated."

"Is it the same powerful person that wiped out the heavy combat company and killed the commander?"

"I don't know that intruder looks young… plus he did not kill any soldiers outside and just sneak inside this building…"

"Was the patrol guards informed yet?"

"Yes, they have already covered all the entrances. That person has no way to escape…"

"How about the new commander? Was he informed already?"

"Yes, the sergeant informed him already…"

The soldiers inside the surveillance room began to discuss in a hushed tone while they are in a defensive position.

Unknown to them I was listening to their conversation from the corner of the corridor.

"So they intended to trap me in this place and capture me, eh? Anyway, I think that room is a special room… and also the commander's room…"

After planning in my mind, I suddenly jump up the ceiling, and using my strong grip I attached myself to it. Then I slowly crawl on the ceiling like a lizard and carefully approach the surveillance camera.

"Hmm… I knew that it would only focus on the ground…," I thought as I carefully approach.

However, I already calculated from the angle that if I crawl closer, then they would be able to see my figure on the screen, so I have to move fast.

The first is to destroy the camera and before everyone could recover, I have to barge inside the room. Or another option is to destroy the camera and then move outside and enter the room through the windows.

I have to think fast as I could now hear some footsteps coming towards the second floor.

"Ah, whatever…" I quickly dug the cement on the ceiling and drew two cement stones the size of a thumb. I then threw it directly towards the surveillance camera and the light in the corridor.

Bzzt…

The camera was destroyed along with the light which created some sparks of electricity.

The darkness hid my figure then it did not take long before a group of five armed men arrives in the corridor. They are truly soldiers as they systematically enter the corridor while covering each other while walking.

"This is Scout team we are outside the surveillance room. It seems that everything is dark, visibility is low… sniper team, please switch to thermal…" a soldier said on his earpiece.

'Roger that!'

Someone from the other line said.

'This is sniper team two, I could see your team… but the bogie is not present, I repeat, the bogie is not…'

Suddenly the other end of the line stopped as he seems to have detected something.

Bam! Crack!

The last guy suddenly collapses to the ground with a sound of a bone-breaking. Then before the rest could react, another one was sent flying towards the person in front of him with a powerful kick. Before the rest could do something they were all hit by the powerful force which sent four people flying to the wall.

The sniper watching this scene was left agape as he saw the power of the person who just sent five strong men flying.

Then he saw that man suddenly kicking the door in the surveillance room.

"All team attack now! Everyone, attack!" shouted someone from their headpiece.

Bratatat!

Rapid gunfire began to echo in the air which broke the silence of the night. Every mercenary soldier outside who heard this immediately ran towards their base. They knew that the enemy has entered the base and they need to back their comrades up.

The gunfire lasted for a minute before everyone in the room is now lying in their own blood and a single man was left standing inside the room.

"These computers and laptops could be of great help for me," I muttered while I began packing the things that are undamaged and have some value to me.

Then I continue walking down the corridor and soon arrive in front of a room. I could hear the rapid heart rate of the person inside with a muffled crying voice of a woman.

"Shut up!" a low but angry voice of a man said.

I thought for a while and decided to open the door.

Bang!

A single bullet flew towards my head, but before it could hit me, I lifted the butt of the rifle I was holding to deflect the bullet.

Ting!

The man showed astonishment in his eyes, and when I lowered the butt of the rifle and our eyes met his expression changes into fear.

It seems that this person is afraid of me.

"Are you the new commander?" I asked calmly.

The man heard my voice but his shaking hand and knees prevent him from answering my question.

"Are you the new commander?" I asked again, but this time I put forth a domineering and slightly angry tone.

This seemed to have worked as the man subconsciously nodded his head.

Upon seeing this, a slight smile appears on my face.
