I look out to field of grass and flowers,
With forest behind and river near.
A deer passes softly,
A rabbit hops with glee.
The sunlight fades and the moon sets in,
And the river shines that silver light.
The trees sway as wind howls through them,
And darkness decends into its depths.
The forest hides a dark spirit,
That leads all men astray.
We call it the devil, that snake called Satan.
So in the forest, what is God's shield?
The forest itself, and it's lengthy cover,
The winding river and flowery field.
God created this scape, this beautiful picture
And the sun returns to the sky,
The forest sheds that blanket of darkness,
The river gleams with bright blue brilliance,
And the meadow teems with life evermore.
