Chapter 2 - Chapter 0: The Villianess System

Juliet did not feel the moment when her consciousness left her body. But it must have because she could no longer feel any connection to a physical form. She had never truly considered the possibility of her death so soon. Juliet was far too young, at only 21 she had just barely started her life!

And yet, she remembered the scene of her death. How pain had run across every inch of her body and a stream of blood had flowed across her brow. How tired she felt. How the will to live had left her and how a sense of regret enveloped her as her vision folded into darkness.

A car crash? Seriously! A CAR CRASH! Because of a stupid text from her stupid manager about that stupid audition!! Why couldn't she have been murdered?! At least then it might have meant something.

Not to mention that her day had been going really well, at least up until the whole dying bit. She totally killed her audition and one of the staff even told her that she was a shoo-in for the role! If she had actually landed that job, then her career as an actress might have finally started taking off.

But now she was dead. SO WHAT WAS THE POINT!??!?!?

Juliet silently cursed at any and all the gods she could think of, and then the darkness around her began to change. It shifted and morphed into something that resembled a waiting room. There was even a pile of magazines stacked on a coffee table beside a set of armchairs. Curiously she peeked at the headlines which read-

'System Upgrade!' and ' Top 10 Tips on Plot Development!"

What? Juliet curiously pushed her consciousness forward, however her thoughts were interrupted by a woman's voice coming from behind her.

" Welcome Host, to your waiting room"

Startled, Juliet turned to find a still empty room. However, the voice continued to speak and now it seemed to be coming from all around her.

"I am Opal and I have been assigned to work with you as your System"

The Systems voice was decidedly feminine though her tone was business-like and distinctly robotic. Juliet was not quite sure how to react to this sudden development and hesitantly responded,

" Umm hi. My name is Juliet"

There was an awkward pause before the System said,

" I know, we have been watching you for quite some time as your background makes you a prime candidate for our system."

"Oh!" Juliet perked up at the praise and she asked more eagerly, "and what system is that?"

"You have been assigned to the Villainous System. Your mission is to save the world's Antagonist from dying at the hands of the main characters. However, you must maintain the original plot of the story. Once you have finished in a world, reward points will be allotted to you based on your performance. You may use these points to buy special items or privileges that will help you during your future missions."

Juliet frowned, "Is this like a forever thing? Like, will I spend the rest of eternity just jumping from world to world?"

While Juliet was secretly incredibly excited about her new job in the afterlife. She was also concerned about her future and wondered if this type of work might get draining after a while.

"Not necessarily, if Host works hard and successfully completes many worlds, then you will be given more freedoms and possibly even a promotion. If it truly seems like the Villiaious System is not a good fit for you then you may have the option to transfer to another system however that only happens for very special cases."

Juliet was nodding along, listening intently to Opal when a holographic screen appeared before her.

" Name: Juliet

" Age: 21

" Race: Human (She/Her)

" World Level: Beginner

" Reward points: 0

" Strength: 1

" Intelligence: 1

" Charisma: -1

" Luck: -2

" Special Skills: Acting (53/100)

'_New World Transmigration_'

"WOWWWWW" Juliet's eyes lit up as she explored the screen's many features. She looked through the overwhelmingly long list of skills that she could learn and build to mastery. As the only skill, she seemed to possess was an average acting skill. Which while useful was still a little disappointing. She also found an online shopping format for all the items she could buy with her rewards points, such as Healing Potion (200rp) and Love at First-sight simulation(500rp).

Opal watched their new host excitedly look through her STATS and prayed to the Creators that Juliet wouldn't turn out to be as much of a catastrophe as their last host had been. Opal really only had one last chance to redeem themself and they needed this to work just long enough for their superiors to forget what had happened.

" When the Host is ready, we can enter into the new world at any time."

Juliette smiled broadly before opening back up to the homepage. And readily tapped on the screen,

'_New World Transmigration_'

The waiting room around her began to spin and her vision became increasingly blurry until Juliet lost consciousness once again.
