*slam*
The door closes as a hooded figure stands in the entryway to the pub. "You didn't have to slam it". "Sorry.." they say as they dropped their hood to reveal a face with round, wind reddened cheeks and long disheveled red hair. "I didn't mean to, the wind is just picking up with the storm" she said as she pushed some of her hair behind her slightly pointed ear and removed her cloak, placing it on the coat rack and proceeding to cross the room to a table by the hearth.
I walk over in no particular rush as I wasn't busy due to the previously mentioned storm that truly had picked up something fierce in the last hour or so. "What can I get you?" I ask. Looking up from her hands which were held out closer to the fire with a tense expression she said "Nothing, thank you..." Getting a little annoyed that the first new customer id had in hours didn't want to order I blurted out "what? Came all the way here just to site there?" A little gruffer than I normally would. Looking up through tear streaked blue eyes she sobbed "It's not that, I just haven't any gold to my name" as she threw her face into her hands and continued to sob.
"There, there calm your tears and I'll be right back." I say as I hurriedly rush to the kitchen behind the bar and start ladling stew into a bowl. I've never been good with tears so the best thing I could think to do for the both of us was get out of there quick and bring her back a hot meal. Before scurrying back out of the kitchen I ripped off a piece of the loaf of bread I'd made the day before.
Walking back and placing the food on the table I saw she had stopped crying though from the puffiness of her eyes it looked like she'd been crying on and off for hours. "Now just sit there and warm up and enjoy something warm in your stomach" I said as I pull up a chair. "But...but I can't pay you for the food..." she stutters out. "Don't worry about it. How about you just eat and when you're ready, tell me what happened to have you out here by my hearth during this storm." Then with a smile quil and paper appeared magickally. "Now why don't you tell me your name.
